We've seen this play out before so it's no surprise to me. It's just a sad reality of where we are in the rebuild phase.

Maybe they will look better with a pro bowl caliber running back who came back to prove it wasn’t a fluke . Maybe the FO will have a clearer mind and sense of direction without dealing with a disgruntled QB eating up
35 million .
Let’s see what happens . I hadn’t heard Mayfield wanted “ nothing to do with us “ simply he preferred the colts who just signed Matt Ryan so let’s see about Mayfield . He’s running out of needy teams .As for Watson we couldn’t afford the price . He wasn’t going to Cleveland either till they gave him 240 million dollars fully guaranteed .
I was re reading the transcript of PCs remarks post trade and he made clear among other things that this was Russels idea which is why it happened . But in the statement he mentioned he wasn’t concerned about Locke if it came to that and he also had no problem if Geno wound up starting . I feel the same way . I’m optimistic . Pete ball won us a Lombardi and it’s what we will definitely be playing .

cut some players, extend others or convert to cash some salaries and even then they would probably have
to sign him to a multi-year deal which probably isn’t something they want to do.

Back . So do we have only Locke and that kid Eason on the roster ? It seems to me like there’s another shoe to drop . If they should sign Mayfiejd I’d assume he starts so do they ride with Locke as a backup and have 2 young high draft picks . Or do they deal Locke in that instance and bring Geno in dirt cheap to back up
, seems like some unfinished business . Maybe not . Maybe Pete was being honest when he said he’s cool riding with Locke and Geno .
As for the deal with Wilson and Carroll I think we all understand you have to be quiet in the middle of a trade like this . In a way they are the same guy . Glib positive psychobabble that says nothing and can be interpreted 10 different ways
Pete was perfectly honest that while they were “ not shopping him “ exact quote they were “listening to offers “ “ always looking to make the team better “ Russ on the other hand jumped on an ESPN reporter who asked about the rumors “ you guys make stuff up , blow it out of proportion “ within a week of his trade he was loudly proclaiming he wasn’t going to the commanders , doesn’t want to be on the east coast , likes the west coast . “ I want to win 3 or 4 more superbowls I hope it’s here “ as his agent was swearing at the man who gave him a chance , making sure they understood Russ was not signing an extension and wanted to leave now. Naw there’s degrees. Russ is a great athlete , great QB , lots of memories , better very early .
But he’s really lost me 100% with these last 2 years it’s been eroding awhile . Probably since his flippant comments after losing to Atlanta in 2016 divisional .
First Ciara year . voodoo princess. Gang bangers who already rode his bike on the Atlanta sidelines jeering Russ . Lousy game but didn’t own it. It’s just gotten worse and worse . The last 5 years he has been Mr regular season . I’m glad he’s gone . Good luck in Denver . It might get a lot worse before it gets better but it was time to pull the ripcord .
