I agree. He saw what is happening in the NFC and realized there are only like 1.5 other legitimate starting QB's in the Conference.

I don't think it will affect Brady much. If he had been retired a few years and come back, maybe. But he took like an extra month or two off? If anything he feels ready to go.

This probably isn’t a decision he made lightly so it wouldn’t surprise me if he kept to
the same routine he always had as he must have had some doubts about retiring when
he announced it.

I wish this A-hole would just leave and get out of my face. I've never liked the prick, from his behavior during Inflate Gate to the time when he walked off the field without congratulating the SB winning QB, knowing full well what the ritual was. Between him and Rodgers, I can't stand to watch Prime Time games with either of those two on the field.
