Geno was a garden variety DUI relatively speaking. Normally they are breaking driving laws to be stopped in the first place . Sherman had reportedly chugged 2 fifths of Jameson before getting behind the wheel at probably .28. Then crash , hit and run , attempted break in ; threatening to kill himself , his family , physically scuffling with police as his ex wife pleads for them not to shoot him. But oh no I don’t have Sherman on my Christmas cart list so I can’t rate the acts differently :D
You sound like a guy miffed Carroll wants Geno back . Sherman is the greatest corner in our history , I believe a hall of fame corner . He is a much bigger reason for our Lombardi than anyone else because without the best defensive play in team history , one of the all time defensive plays in history we’re not going to the game . I worry about him now , Sherman the person with all the shots to the head . Wtf with the Christmas list ? Honestly River what’s up ?

Geno ? I was astounded he went 98 yards in his first action in anger in 5 years against Russ kryptonite . 10 points in the 4th quarter against a team Russ scored 17 in 7 quarters . Completed passes to 10 receivers vs Pitts including a Rodgers esque slide up and down in the pocket to complete a beautiful sideline throw to Penny Hart for his only catch of the game . Then you come home from Jacksonville saying meh. Not sure which game you were watching . I saw Geno complete his first 15 passes, most in the league , most deadly accurate , 2 more that hit receivers in the hands . 10 completions to Lockett in the FIRST HALF. They knew it was coming at some point but Geno will throw into an nfl open window a lot quicker than Russ . A very efficient clean starter quality performance . That’s what the announcers said about him every game except the Saints and even then he threw a TD to DK as he did 4 times which took 35 million guy 7 games to hook that up again.

I never said Geno was an all pro caliber guy at this point . I heard guys on TV say he might be a late bloomer that could get a chance somewhere . Dave Wyman thinks he could start somewhere . He played 14 years . Clayton doesn’t , feels like you about him .

My guess is PC thinks he can start and win or he wouldn’t want him back and he will be inexpensive most likely . You’re the one who might have been wrong about Genos 2021 game. It’s Ok to accept it .

LOL! Glad you have a sense of humor about my ribbing.

I'm not sure if you read the Sherman news before you wrote this, but his DUI charge was reduced to negligent driving and speeding in a construction zone. They didn't say what his BAC level was, but it's likely less than .15 as they likely wouldn't have reduced the charge had he been over that threshold. It's almost certainly less than .28 as he wouldn't have been able to function well enough to break down a door or wrestle with police if it were as high as you are suggesting.

I'm not 'miffed' that Carroll wants Geno back, to the contrary. If they can resolve his legal problems, I wouldn't mind seeing him brought back in to compete for the backup job. I was just surprised at Carroll's matter-of-fact attitude towards the situation.

Geno played like what one would expect out of a backup quarterback. He was 1-2 in his 3 starts, the win coming at home and at the expense of one of the worst teams in the league. He had decent numbers, ended the season with a 103 rating and 68% completion, 5TD's 1 INT, albeit a small sample size. His career numbers are considerably worse.

So tell me, given the above paragraph, where is it that I'm wrong?

I’d love to have seen a 4th start , 5 actually. Love to have seen him vs Green Bag And it’s the first of you being happy if he’s on the team . You saw 1-2. I saw a guy who got us back in a game Russ had been dreadful in. Completed a high percentage and probably as many over the middle in 3 starts as Russ in 10. Directed 3 straight scoring drives to get to Ot vs Pittsburgh despite a withering pass rush in his first start in 5 years . Extremely powerful accurate arm . More steady in the pocket , maybe too steady but watt beat the hell out of him all night and he was right there till one of the best edge rushers took him out with his only fumble starting . Watt sacked him 5 times , batted a few passes. But the play watt didn’t make earlier was a pretty good chop on Genos throwing arm and hand as he started his throw and somehow Geno hung on and delivered when most guys have an empty hand at best .

2 missed field goals in a 3 point loss vs the Saints . Say it all you want but played a perfect Pete ball game vs JAx, a great performance applauded by Pete , DK and Digg. Not a coincidence I think after 3 starts and getting 1 team reps .

I’d love to have seen what he could do vs a really good team . It couldn’t have been worse but the little dictator had to have his way .
You said he’s an “ average backup at best “ after a game he completed 80% with 2 TDs and a rush TD that Russ will never score cause he jumped over the top and reached out the ball over the goal line getting absolutely blasted in the face in the process . He stood in and delivered taking massive hits several times . Imo he certainly played well enough to go 2-1 or maybe win all 3 if everyone else does their job. Of course that didn’t happen much of the season no matter who was starting . His stats for a full season at his pace is about 27 TDs and around 3800 yards . I’ll contend he was just getting warmed up too. No picks starting and the one vs the Rams Lockett was tangled with no call. 1 fumble

The job of a backup is to give a team a chance . By that standard Geno played far better than I expected and I’ll say it . If I’m Mike Vrabel I’d bring him in . Could he have been worse than Tannyhill?
