NorthHawk wrote:Like all super successful people he has an internal fire that will probably never be quenched, so if he retired, I would expect him back in a year or so because it's part of who he is.
At his age, he would have to find something else to do so maybe he ends up in the broadcast booth but he would still have that desire to coach. I doubt he retires this early.

The problem is that the game has been changing so much that it has the chance of making his style obsolete in that amount of time unless he stays engaged in some manner with the game.
I wouldn't blame Aaron Donald a bit if he retired. The game is so hard on those guys and the league just keeps asking for more, expanding the regular season, the playoffs, playing games overseas, etc. And they wonder why players fake it in the Pro Bowl, if they don't skip it entirely.

Personally, I'm for chit canning it.
Our division could look vastly different next season. If McVay and Donald both retire, the Rams would be very unlikely to repeat their success from this season. The Niners are likely to be parting ways with Jimmy G and hitching their wagon to Trey Lance, and there's trouble in the desert. And that doesn't even take into account what's going on around the rest of the conference, with Aaron Rodgers looking to move, Brady and Payton retiring. We'll see how our offseason goes, but it looks like the door will be open for a quick turnaround for us.

obiken wrote:We agree on the Pro Bowl River. What do you think on AR going to SF? None of the talking heads on TV are pushing that. I think with Samuels, Kittle, a great defense, and a Running game, he would be moving back to the WC, and would be a major upgrade over JG.
