Hawks-Lions

We will be facing a backup again this Sunday . It’s a sad day as I feel we will be seeing the last home game of Wags , Russ , and Pete . It’s been a hell of a ride . But about the game . These guys haven’t won much this year but they have generally been competetive . They have gone for it on 4th down at a near record pace . The line is huge for Seattle with Detroit playing a backup . Maybe Vegas doesn’t watch our games :D their QB threw for 187 and a TD and was throwing into the Atlanta end zone for the win and was picked off in a 20-16 loss to a competitive team . I’d really love to see a big win , see Russ play like vintage Russ, maybe Wags house one . But I have zero confidence in this team . I’ll make an optimistic prediction. Hawks 29, Lions 13.

How well we do in this ...our last home game in front of the fans will determine if the final game holds more meaning as a spoiler. I would rather post as a reaction to actual events then speculate on any negative aspect of why this season ended in disaster.

If left to speculation I would like to focus on what good outcomes might put our ship upright and sail out of this ugly harbor we drifted into. As a fan I would like to see some screens practiced till successful as a traditional means of taming an opponents aggressive Defensive line. I like Jordyn Brooks actively shutting down screens from our opponents as this helps to keep opponents from focusing on boxing out B.Wagner. This was also a strength of KJ Wrights...if KJ got boxed out...Bobby would shut the screen down...and vice versa.

Our team has always prided itself on having an entire defense that loves to tackle...it was a sudden weakness early in the season improving as the Defense started working together as a sum of its parts...a team. It now reflects spent stamina in the latter part of games as we struggle to get Time of Possession back in balance.

As a fan I would also like to see Diggs extended early rather than late...if any individual represents the word Franchise I would think he rose to that distinction and if we are forced to use our Franchise Tag to keep his talent from escaping it would be well spent. I think otherwise Diggs extension and an effort to renegotiate B. Wagner's contract would be binded together.

As a fan I would like to see Jason Myers face a worthy competitor to stoke a fire within and restore the kicker who was close to automatic and a key to helping RW win the close games. Play recognition from our LB corps is key to clogging the "middle" as it allows our LBs to attack the running game or to quickly drop further back to provide underneath coverage. J. Adams growth into a traditional SS role would greatly aid our LB corps and help keep an opponents TE from running amok.

My wish list is to see Russell restore his competitive fire and drive as a remedy to sustaining drives and effective comebacks. My other wish is that our pass rush attack becomes sustained and improving as a season progresses rather than a sharp spike that surprises from time to time. My closing wish is DK and RW's connection matures. RW is best when target distribution is achieved but DK is a double edged sword that begins to rust when left in RW's sheath. RW is used to Doug Baldwin/Tyler Lockett type personalities so DK is more like a Jimmy Grahm personality...requiring an OC to scheme/funnel more plays that overcome a defense "sitting" on them.

I don't have much hope for a change in Offense. Basically the same Offense over 3 OC's doesn't bode well for change.
It's the way Pete wants to play so if he's here it will be the same boring 1980's style football with no imagination or creativity.
We may see a few different looks, but I think that would be largely window dressing and most teams will know what plays we
are going to run. Detroit has less talent than us, so we should win but they might be competitive for much of the game.

The guy played decent last week . Don’t rule it out . I think every play matters to this coach and roster because I think the ownership is watching and trying to decide . Detroit comes in here with 10 times the enthusiasm and juice . If these Seahawks are proud men they should rise up . But it’s as tough a 2 win team as you will see .

Detroit is leading Green Bay 17 13 at half with Rodgers playing. Go fish . Goff has 17 more points against GB in a half then Russ had in 4 quarters . But Russ and Penney had 30 plus points and Penney over 100’yards at the half against a D the #1 seed has scored 13 . Welcome to the 2021 season

I'm watching the Red Zone. The dead from the neck up Jags are leading the Colts, with a playoff bid at stake, 13-3 in the 3rd quarter and just got a strip sack fumble on the Colt's 25.

Yeah, and in the Lions-Packers game, they pulled Rodgers and inserted Jordan Love.

The Detroit game wasn't weirdness. The Packers had HFA locked up. Agreed on the others, though.
