young guns

There's a lot of exciting young signal callers in the league right now. Burrows went off on the Ravens for 525. Mahomes is back to himself, Herbert has had some eye popping numbers his first 2 years but they got bushwhacked by the Texans and another kid I'm looking at right now which is Davis Mills. Hes won 2 in a row after completing his first 14 to start vs Seattle and he torched the Chargers. Tua looked really good tonight and their OC looked awesome as Miami won their 7th straight after starting 1-7.Remember there was talk of replacing Flores as HC and Tua with Deshawn Watson. Mayfield and to a certain degree Lamar Jackson seem to have lost a little shine. Mac Jones has come back to earth after a great stretch but hes still going to be very good.

The guy who really blew me away yesterday was Josh Allen. He was simply the biggest baddest dude on the field at Foxborough. He had some great throws and great runs but the run that blew my mind was on 4th and 1 around midfield in a tight game. They called a 39 naked bootleg for Allen and it looked like the Pats were filming again because there were 2 defenders 5 yards in the backfield waiting for Allen when he got turned upfield . He froze the first guy and somehow slipped the other guy without either really getting a pad on him and ran over a few people and picked up 5 yards. I'm still not sure how a big guy like that could be that quick and nimble. Whenever Russ is done I want a guy like that. I know hes been inconsistent as has his team and most teams this year but that's a guy with a bigger upside than Mahomes IMO.

Allen is a stud for sure. My concern is that with his style of play he will get banged up. The Bills are a top flight running back away from being a great team. They need that piece to complement Allen and to protect him from so much punishment. Imagine what they would be with Penny if he is not resigned by Seattle.

There was some talk during Allen’s draft year of a trade to Cleveland of Russ for their pick
where we would take Allen. It obviously never went anywhere but there was some chatter
before the draft.

I agree. The Bills are one dimensional. Stop Allen and you stop the Bills. Allen is also prone to turnovers, with 12 INT's and 5 fumbles in 15 games.

After watching Saints-Fins last night, I couldn't help but think that Sean Payton has to be thinking that he desperately needs a new QB, that he doesn't have one on his roster that he can build a team around.

Allen had 3 or 4 terrible games including a loss to Jacksonville which I’m sure accounts for most of the turnovers . One of their losses was when Allen slipped on a 4 th down sneak .They have righted the ship . I like them in the conference championship this year . If they can beat Belichick on the road in December they can beat anyone in the conference . The OC Daboll is as hot a name as anyone . I forgot to give Dak his props although he’s kind of middle age in NFL years . That team with Dan Quinn calling the defense has their best chance in a long time .

I went back and checked the Bills stats from this season. It's not hard to do. Prior to the Pats game this week, Allen has had at least one turnover in his last 9 straight games. He's only had 3 out of 15 games that he hasn't had a turnover. He has a problem with ball security.

Wow that's a lot. But he is certainly winning more than losing. If a Qb throws a pick but 3 or 4 TDs it evens out. Especially with a moose like that that also runs designed plays all day long and scores rushing TDs. It also accounts for fumbles. His feet were the difference Sunday.

Another guy Id put in that high turnover category is Stafford. I think he threw 3 picks last Sunday. Depending on who shows up behind center on a given day those type of teams might win it all or be one and done. Hopefully its the Rams.
