LJ Collier trade?

It seems he's on the block and Nkemdiche has passed him on the depth chart.
It wouldn't surprise me if Collier isn't just cut if no trade interest occurs.

How much of this evaluation is PC and how much JS. And I’ve lost my faith it Carroll to coach , forget talent evaluation . The biggest problem with the defense hasn’t been personnel.

I'm sure that JS has some input and deserves some of the blame, too. But make no mistake: This is Pete Carroll's team, especially the defense. The guy is supposedly the best defensive mind of his era. One of the reasons why he chose to come here is because he'd have control over all football related matters. Here's what he said about his decision to take the Seahawks job:

"Really it came of the years at SC, where we had an athletic director and the football head. I had the opportunity there to make every decision from recruiting, academics, to everything. Responsible for all of that. I felt like that would really an opportunity for me to be at my best.

"When this opportunity came here, it was expressed and clearly laid out that I could have the same type of responsibility and the same kind of approach. It’s been really instrumental, because the way we do things is not the way a lot of other people do things."

General manager John Schneider was hired in 2010, eight days after Carroll, whose official title is executive vice president in charge of football operations.

IMO a very large part, if not the largest part, of our defensive problems is personnel. It's pretty hard for it not to be when we give up more yards than any other team in the league. We simply do not have athletes on the defensive front 4.

We have a minor difference of Opinion on that one HT. You dont win with just Bobby and Jamal chips in once in a while, you have to have a couple of Super stars and a few stars. Getting guys that are B or B+ players is the hardest in Football. I dont think scheme matters. However to help your argument, a lot of defense is passion, Norton has to go. I just think FB is less about X's and O's and more about Willy's and Joe's.

It happens all the time. In fact, we just traded a 6th round pick this season to Jacksonville for Sidney Jones, who couldn't even make the roster on a team that ended up losing 20 games in a row. The very fact that a player is a former #1 draft pick gives them value. Rashaad Penny has done very little for us, either, but he'd fetch a low round pick if we were to consider trading him.

Teams always look at high round players as an opportunity to get a player that might help on the cheap. It seems the conventional thought is
if a team thought highly enough of him to make him a 1st round pick or high 2nd then he might just have some value that they could reclaim.
Pete has done this a number of times and we see Nkemdiche on today's team. He was an FA pickup, but it wouldn't surprise me if they thought
he would be worth a low pick if they saw value in him prior to the draft.
