Losing Hutch was huge, especially when you couple it with Robbie Tobeck retiring without a viable replacement not too long after XL (he played in just 8 games in 2006). SA comes up short in my book. 1 MVP, 3 PB appearances, less than 9500 career rushing yards, and no rings just doesn't cut it. But I don't think that Beast is the slam dunk you're making him out to be. His numbers are weak, with contemporaries like Steven Jackson, Jamal Lewis, and Thomas Jones all putting up better stats, and he is a little controversial and could rub some voters the wrong way. But he had some of the most spectacular runs in NFL history so that should help his cause.
