Not sure if that's the same issue that's holding him back now, but when you consider that he missed mini camp, too, he's missing valuable reps with our QB's. They had him penciled in as the #3 receiver.
Pocic is sitting out with a hamstring injury, too.

Pocic would qualify as a thick wide body, and he's not on the practice field, either.
I don't know if there's any relationship between body type and injuries. You have to keep in mind that big bodies put more stress on their joints, their backs, etc. Do you remember how injury prone Russell Okung was? Or how about Marcus Tubbs, our first round pick in 2004?

The two main starting spots are taken and Russell already has very good timing with 2 other receivers - Hart and Swain and both are probably a long way ahead of any rookie receiver not named DK. Even if he were in camp, he'd still be the #4 to 5 coming out this year. This doesn't include a great TE group with FA Everett and Dissley, yes, only if he can stay healthy.
On the other side of the coin, last years #2 pick Darrell Taylor who was hurt all last year, is in camp and it's reported he looks real good moving to his new strong side position that would be the hybrid DE/3rd LB with Wags and Brooks going forward. Penny is healthy and lost weight and looks great, according to media. I think Posic was back on the field today, too. We actually seem to be pretty healthy right now. This is football!

Toe injuries have ended careers so I hope it's not the case here.

His speed or lack thereof isn't what worries me. It's his ability to make sharp cuts and sudden stops that's most concerning about this particular injury. But I agree with you that it doesn't look good. If it hasn't healed in the several months since OTA's, the prognosis for him being ready in another couple of weeks isn't favorable.
jshawaii22 wrote:Well, we all should find out soon enough as he's no longer on PUP and is on the field today practicing with the team. Do not expect him to play this game and maybe not at all in the preseason, but he's back and according to Pete (yes we all know what that means) he looks fast and great running around.
