People who've been vaccinated can still get the virus. Many don't even know they have it so in a population where not all are vaccinated, introducing
the virus can cause problems that might otherwise be caught with screening tests like you stated.

We don't yet know what different countries are going to finally do for verifications as many are still deciding and others haven't quite figured out how
much they need considering their own countries vaccination rates. I suspect it will be a bit of a mess for a while until all countries agree on some type
of procedures that are common. And that takes us back to teams playing in London. Who knows what type of restrictions they may demand or if there
is another "wave", so if I were running a team and was playing there and I had 2 players rated equally but one is unvacinnated, I would cut that player
and keep the vaccinated one. It might even be a factor for those teams not playing outside the US as a player that comes down with Covid-19 and is
not vaccinated could get a severe case and be out months while a vaccinated one would probably only be out for a 2 week waiting period.

The odds of a vaccinated person contracting the virus AND spreading the disease is very, very remote: The researchers believe the decreased viral load hints that vaccinated people who do contract the virus will be less infectious because they will have much less virus that could be spread to others. IMO requiring a vaccinated person to take a PCR test reeks of ignorance of the science and research on the subject.

Once the vaccines get full FDA approval, I would not be surprised to see many businesses, particularly those like the NFL where there's so much travel and interaction with people from different regions including those where vaccination rates are low, to require that all of their employees be vaccinated. It's a business decision.

That may be true, but countries and their leaders have the internal politics to consider, so in that view I can see requirements being set up for their own political benefit and to calm fears
of those many that are ignorant of the science.

No doubt. But as an American citizen that has been subjected to multiple politicians using the buzz word phrase "follow the science" for the past 15 months to justify their decisions, it is extremely frustrating when those same politicians cherry pick only that science which they want to follow.

The Covid virus was worse than the Conservatives would like to think, but not as bad as a lot of liberal media would like to hope.

I don't think anyone, regardless of political bent, is hoping for the virus to be worse.

https://www.si.com/nfl/2021/05/30/report-seahawks-discussing-julio-jones-trade-falcons

Well, we don't have a #1 coming up, and that's supposed to be the 'minimum' for Atlanta to make the trade, so what is Russell offering or I mean JS going to trade? A #3 next year + our #1 in '23? With us not having enough cap to trade ( I think Julio is 12m this year?) , that would make it include player(s)?

I certainly wouldn't complain as that would give us potentially one awesome 3 man wideout receiving corps in the NFL. (certainly better then bringing in AB) I think for all the years that we don't trade our future, Russell has made it clear that we better damn well be gearing to 'win now' and Julio would help that goal.

And I am not saying that Bob, I am saying that the truth on Covid 19 lies between the two extremes.

I don't see two extremes. I see politicians and I see science. I see those that would try to make political points by denying the science ... The other side is just the science; virologists, doctors, the CDC, no political affiliation. There's only the truth and not the truth.

Bob, the problem is that medical science is not cut and dried. There are still many many doctors, etc that do not support the 'shots' because a typical time for studies takes 3-5 years, not months. Generally you do not want the general public to be part of the test, but I took my Pfizers like a man and didn't have any negative effects, but we really rolled the dice on this, and it looks like 'science' is winning.

The "typical time" of 3-5 years does not apply to these vaccines. The Covid vaccination campaign is unprecedented. To date, they have administered over 1.8 billion doses worldwide, nearly 300 million in the US alone. I don't have the figures, but that has to be many, many times more total doses of any vaccine or family of vaccine has administered over the course of decades. If there were a major problem with them, surely it would have showed itself by now.

To give you an example, there's a relatively new shingles vaccine, also a two-dose regimen, that has been out for a couple years that's been made available to adults age 50+, which includes Yours Truly, called Shingrix. In the first 8 months, they distributed 3.2 million doses, which represents about a week's worth of Covid vaccinations in the United States.

If a person does their homework and researches these vaccines, there aren't many people that won't conclude that the risk of adverse side effects from them pales in comparison to the risk of catching and dying from Covid, not to mention the communicability aspect of the virus.

Science is never cut and dried, that would be faith. Let yourself become convinced of one single truth and then things become cut and dried (until they are not). Science is a process, not a belief system. Science is about disproving things you believe until you are left with the truth of a thing that cannot be disproved. Faith is about believing a thing and only looking for facts that lend themselves to reinforce that belief.

Sure C, I think we will win 10 or 11 games, but then one and done again.

Either you want science to be able to beat pandemics using the scientific process at an accelerated rate or you want to believe everything takes 3-5 years (which it doesn't). We produce a new flu vaccine every year based on the flu for that year. They took vaccine technology which has been around for a long, long time and applied it to this virus. The underlying science is using a dead version of the virus to activate your immune system to increase resistance to the virus. This isn't something completely novel that has never been done before or an entirely new untested compound. Not sure why people are viewing it as such.

mRNA delivery systems have been in development for a while. Vaccines have been around for a while. This isn't an extremely complex vaccine for an extremely complex virus.

Do you want science to be able to beat viruses like this or don't you? If they come up with a solution, you should participate. People want science to beat all these diseases and sicknesses, then don't want to participate when they think they've found a solution. Just seems to be encouraging failure due to lack of participation rather than a failure of the scientific process.

I don't get it. We literally put all the scientific minds of the world to work on beating this virus. They came out with a solution they believe will be effective in record time and now people are listening to quacks who aren't even offering a better solution? Pretty ridiculous. People should be lining up to get this vaccine that human minds around the world developed to defeat this pandemic. Same as they would other medical technologies that extend and improve their lives.

I couldn't have said it better myself. You hit the nail on the head.

The genesis of all vaccines prior to Covid was to produce a small quantity, test it in a clinical trial, then apply for standard FDA approval prior to mass production and distribution. Once that process was completed, it took a number of months before the vaccine could be produced in quantity, and even then it had to compete with other drugs for production line time in processing facilities. Drug companies did not want to take the financial risk of having to dispose of a mass produced vaccine, waste precious raw materials, and sideline the production of other important drugs if it failed to gain FDA approval.

With the Covid vaccines, the federal government paid to start production of the vaccine before it was proven in the trials. They didn't skip any safety steps, they just rolled the dice and bet that the vaccine would work and started acquiring raw materials at an unprecedented rate, reserved/prioritized production line time, and began producing it before it was proven to be safe and effective so that once it was approved, they could hit the ground running and get it out quickly. They didn't rush the safety aspect, they rushed the production side of the equation.

I do wish people would do their homework and listen to the experts rather than guys like Tucker Carlson.

The people like Carlson and others have an agenda, and they promote it continuously. That sways people to be receptive to other sources saying the same or similar things.
It's all part of the Goebbels "Big Lie" theory that is effective today even with history showing us that people are trying to manipulate us. Regarding the vaccine, we used to
use dead, partially live, or live viruses as part of the vaccines. This new method was described to me as a vaccine that enters the body and shows a picture of the virus to
the immune system along with instructions as to how to kill it. That's why as the virus mutates we might have to have booster shots in the future as the picture has changed.
In the same way that the immune system wouldn't recognize a mutated Flu virus, a Covid-19 virus that mutates might in time not be as readily recognized as a threat as
it initially did.
