Schotty maybe moving on?

Postby NorthHawk » Wed Dec 16, 2020 8:53 am

There's a rumor that Brian Schottenheimer is under consideration for the HC job in Houston.
Clearly Eric Bieniemy should have the inside track with his work in KC but Schotty may be a
candidate for other teams.

Boy, the fit would hit the shan if a team took Shotty over Bieniemy.

I wonder if the addition of two extra playoff teams will have a significant effect on head coaching turnover.

I think Schotty is doing a pretty good job overall. His QB has made some uncharacteristic mistakes but the offense has been pretty good. Its a whole nother jump to HC though. he's got the genes.

I like him better than his predecessor. His offense seems to fit Russell's skill set than Bevell's.

I haven't a clue how well he'd do as a HC. For having been in the game for as long as he has, Pete's coaching tree isn't very impressive.

He was okay but I think we can do better.

Could happen, but he was universally disliked when with the Jets and had little success in St Louis. His offense was normally in the 20’s or worse. With the up/down this year, surprised he’s getting much action

I suspect that his last name has a lot to do with his popularity with owners/GM's.

That's true, but it doesn't mean that Brian hasn't benefited from his dad's legacy.

I was being snide about Chuck Jr. Used to be they discounted coaches kids as riding on Daddy’s coat tails. But since Shanahan, they think coaches kids are better. Not sure. You’ve seen a lot of success in basketball, some in baseball. In the NFL there’s been some: Shanahans, Nolans, Shulas, Moras, Ryans, Phillips, Bowdens. So kinda been a mixed bag. No Bill Peterson, Jr though....
