Lumen Field

The CLink is getting a new name. Lumen technologies bought out Century Link and they now have the naming rights to the Home of the Hawks. Tonight's game is supposed to be the first game the stadium is called Lumen Field.

I hope they are paying the Seahawks more money for the rights.

They're not. Apparently part of the agreement with the Hawks and Century Link was that naming rights would be changed if the company were ever bought out. Century Link paid like 10 mil/year to have the naming rights through 2033. Those might not be exact but it something along those lines.

First "Climate Pledge Arena" and now this? These name are horrible! Though I can't wait to see the nicknames people come up with.

I agree. I absolutely love the design and amenities in today's new stadiums compared to what we had to suffer through in stadiums like the Kingdome, but some of these names are hideous. Can't have everything, I guess.

Yeah, Climate Pledge Arena sounds awful. As far as Lumen field I don't love that name either. I did like Qwest and 'The CLink,' they both had nice rings to them.

Yeah, I read it was a "Re-branding".....not a good name. I guess we can still call it the "Clink" if we want - or the fans can come up with their own Seahawk name for it. At one time (when Holmy was around) I referred to Seattle's D as the "West Toast Defense". May still be appropriate.

It ought to be named Allen Field or Allen Stadium. He's the one that saved the franchise. Perhaps a grass roots effort to buy out the naming rights?

That would be desirable, but it would never be known as the rights owners name only to be overshadowed by the name Paul Allen.
Everyone would refer to it as Paul Allen Field or Stadium and the naming rights owner would be left out.

Love it, I might adopt that as well!
