Next 5 Games

Postby RiverDog » Tue Oct 20, 2020 6:26 pm

Our next 5 games are as follows: At Cards, vs. Niners, at Buffalo, at Rams, vs. Cards. 4 of 5 games against teams in our division, all of whom have been looking pretty good with not a single sub .500 record, plus the current AFC East leader. The bye came at a good time, getting some of our guys healthy before we hit that stretch.

After those 5 games, the next 4 include: At Eagles, vs. Giants, vs. Jets, at Washington, a real soft spot in the schedule, at least on paper. However, we have this nagging tendency to play down to the level of our competition, plus with our defense, we can make the worst of offenses look like the Greatest Show on Turf.

Of course, the covid thing could jumble things up, but I thought it's an interesting look.

Yeah, 5-0 feels really good right now but the next 5 weeks are going to be tough. We can beat anybody but it would be really nice to find a consistent pass ASAP. Going 3-2 over the next 5 would set us up nicely heading into the stretch of those 4 weaker teams.

We should be getting Adams back this week, so that should help with our pass rush. He's truly a player that can make a difference, elevate the play of his teammates.

I would settle for 3-2 in those next 5 games, especially if one of those two losses is to the Bills. We have a two game lead in the loss column and there's only two other one loss teams in the conference, and those two (Bears and Packers) still have to play each other twice. The Rams and Bears play this Monday. After facing us, the Cards go on the road to face a much improved Dolphins then on to the division leading Bills.

Edit: I may have spoken too soon about Adams. He was expected to return this week, but Pete seems to be hedging on it a bit:

Coach Pete Carroll is uncertain if Adams (groin) will be ready to return for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.

Adams was originally expected to return this week, so this news pumps the brakes on that optimism a bit. Still, coach Carroll could just be erring on the side of caution as a form of gamesmanship. More clarity on his status should come as the week progresses.
