DK Metcalf

Remember when we drafted DK and Russ tweeted to him "they don't even know man" ... Russ knew!

So did I. That dude is ridiculous.

I also said Russ going to the Hall of Fame in his first year.

DK going to be our best receiver if we can keep him and he stays healthy. Gonna be a legendary type of receiver.

He’s a stud. We’ve had Pro Bowl caliber WR’s in the past but not a top 5 WR in the league (since Largent, obviously). He is Calvin Johnson 2.0 and we get to enjoy him for a long time (hopefully)...

He still has some things to work on, like his hands, his attitude (slacking on what should have been a TD), but he's well on his way to being one of the top 2 or 3 receivers in the league. I can't remember when we had a true #1 receiver. Even Largent wasn't what one would call a #1 receiver, or at least he wouldn't be in today's game.

Russ would have 20 if DK didn’t have that lapse but the kid has unlimited potential. I thin his hands are greatly improved to squeeze that missile to win , thought the first on in the end zone at the end yesterday was good but it didn’t matter . Wilson has balls of steel throwing it up on 4th down . How many deep passes has he thrown on 4th down?

It's balls of steel when it works, but when it doesn't, it's called something quite different.

I gotta say, with how impressive DK has been since last year, there was something about his hands and body control that I thought was "off". He had a decent amount of balls last year where he should have caught them, but didn't. I'm talking the 50/50 ball that Russ would throw up to him (which is not something Russ typically does right). DK would get to the ball first, but he was not securing it down to the ground, whether it be bad timing on his jump, or concerned about his feet being in so lost focus on the hands, etc....Now this is me being really nitpicky, he was a rookie after all and I know things will improve as he works on those types of things. Overall, it was a really impressive rookie year for him and I was stoked about him going into this year.

That is what made that first 4th down catch on that final drive so impressive to me. The timing of his jump, the adjustment he made with his body, the focus he showed to secure the ball, it just all seemed to come together on that catch, and it really excited me that he was able to put that altogether in such a critical moment. His body control was unreal! Think how bad he would be beating himself up had he dropped that. Instead he caught it, brimmed with confidence, and made another great 4th down catch for the touchdown, again securing the ball in a difficult spot while diving.

He is incredible so far, and you know Russ loves throwing his way. So far, so good. Seems to have a really good attitude as well, doesn't strike me a players who will turn "diva". That mistake in the Dallas game was a great lesson, and he redeemed himself there as well. Special player, so glad 'Hawks moved up to get him. Pete taking off his shirt after staff told DK to take his off before walking in to that pre-draft meeting was an awesome moment.

Awesome video. 6'11" wing span. Crazy.

I hope we can keep the trio together for years. Russ, Lockett, and Metcalf is a perfect trio for an offense.

Metcalf is going to command a huge salary a couple years from now. He's by far the best wide receiver that's under a rookie contract.

By then he'll be all world and we'll have to make him the highest paid WR in the league, and we just better.

If it really takes 5 years from the end of Covid restrictions on fans to get the NFL income level up to pre-Covid it could be very interesting with contracts. NBA is predicting shorter length, smaller FA contracts going down by 25%. If NFL is anywhere near that, it will be the next generation of players that will actually break the current 'all-time high' $$$. If you got a contract last off-season, you were the big winners.

Interesting thought. The popularity of the sport seems to have peaked, although last year's SB did slightly reverse what had been a 4 year decline.

Obviously we're a long ways from having to deal with the issue and it's not worth debating such a hypothetical situation, but I will say that resigning an all world WR doesn't have the same priority as resigning a franchise QB like Russell.

DK has been a little off lately, especially his hands . He went huge vs Philly but dropped a TD and another long pass. I think he has dropped 3 TDs at least, maybe 4, a couple off the face mask and had the one slapped away when he let up or Russ would be pushing 40. Last week he really wasn't much of a factor and let a critical pass fly by a foot past his hands because he didn't fight through a hand on his hip. It should have been called but he's plenty strong enough to win there and get to that ball even though its high and wide. He assumed he was clear and did not attack the ball. He will be great when he learns that.

He's not Julio Jones etc in their prime yet. Still a bit inconsistent with lapses and poor footwork at times.
I agree he will be the most expensive receiver in history to resign unless he doesn't improve on last week type performances. His potential is unlimited and he is also a great asset as a blocker.

He and Russ have to get in sync again. Russ needs to trust him and put it on him where he can get it and DK has to win those.
If they get back to that Seattle is right back in it. I'm delighted with the kid but the reality is he's got to be better on a consistent basis like Russ and everyone else. We have lost 3 of the last 5.
