Falcons match up

Postby NorthHawk » Sun Sep 13, 2020 9:31 am

The inactives for today's game are as follows (taken from PFT):

RB DeeJay Dallas, WR Phillip Dorsett, T Jamarco Jones, T Cedric Ogbuehi, DE Alton Robinson, LB D'Andre Walker

We know that Duane Brown didn't practice at times during the week because of a knee injury, Ogbuehi has a Pec
injury and Jones is also dinged up. It looks like Chad Wheeler will be the swing Tackle should something bad happen.

We usually start poorly on the road for season openers, and with this year having no preseason games who knows what
to expect, but with the changes on both LoS, I doubt we have a good showing.
I think Atlanta wins by 8.

So tell me again why teams need a "Preseason"? Russell and the O look in mid-season form so far.

Veteran players like Russell, no, they don't need it, and they don't see a whole lot of work during the preseason. Coaches need it more than the players so they can make roster decisions. Also, special teams need the work.

Adams is having a whale of a game! Maybe it will make Obi forget what we spent for him. :D

Young players need the preseason work to show what they can do against
NFL quality talent.

They look like they are doing some different things to create pressure. It will get harder as teams get film
on what we are doing.

Yup. But then again, teams will have to game plan against him, which usually means they have to sacrifice something else.

Russell is having a career game: 21-24, 183, 4 TD's 0 INT, 138.0 RTG.

4 preseason games will never happen again. Maybe 2... Maybe 1, but the days of traveling around the country for meaningless games is over (IMHO).

And the Seahawks and Falcons don't look like they lacked practice time, either. Add a full offseason that didn't happen this year at all, and it's enough.

Owners aren't going to give up that revenue without some sort of concessions from the players.

Fantastic opening game. Russell was lights out. Adams gets a game ball. Plenty of work to do this week but we couldn't ask for a better first game effort.

All you can ask for and more. Hate to see RW hit so much.

31/35 for 322 yards with 4 TD's and no INT's for a 151.8 passer rating. Russ gets game ball!

Damn. Offense was like boom.

Jamal Adams was every bit as advertised and more. We gotta keep him. That's a foundational player right there for our defense.

Yea, and one of those incompletions was a dropped pass. Outside of one or two throws that were slightly off target, I didn't see any near interceptions or bad decisions. That was about as perfectly played game as you'll see out of a starting quarterback. Where the heck is Anthony?

Russ was awesome, Jamal was awesome, Shaquille had a rough day against a really tough QB and WR corps. DL left a lot to be desired. Excellent win against a good team. I loved the bold 4th and 5 call as well as not letting up once ahead. :D :D
