Fournette

Fournette is on the waiver wire.
Any of the other 31 teams in the league can claim him. The waiver order is the same as this year’s draft order, so the Bengals, Washington and Lions are the first teams up. Thoughts? Was he a negative influence in the locker room? I seriously doubt he'll be available by the time Seattle can grab him, (27th), though. Here is the link to his stats:

He's certainly a Pete Carroll type RB. It wouldn't surprise me, although it also wouldn't surprise me if he didn't get picked up on waivers. He was made available via a "what'll ya give me?" trade to any team that didn't want to have to take a chance on the waive process and they got no interest at all. John might just hold his water and see if we can get him for cheap.

I think his current contract would cost around $11 million this year in Cap space, so like Bob said if we could get
him cheap...
Keep him for a year and see if we want him or Penny - or both if they don't re-sign Carson.

...Fournette is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is due to make $4.17 million in 2020...

The Jags paid him a large signing bonus out of college, so his base pay this year is very reasonable and only applies IF you pick him up off waivers. If he's a FA, he could go for anything. I don't see the Seahawks, but I see New England picking him up over the weekend.

We don't need Fournette with Carson and Carlos Hyde, who also was a 1000 yard rusher last year coming in, maybe only if Penny goes on season IR.

If they were to spend that much on a new player, I think we need a center...

Apparently the Jags couldn't even get a 6th for him. Something isn't adding up. He's been fined repeatedly for being late and missing team functions, so many there's more to the story than we're seeing.

The same types of comments were made about Marshawn Lynch. He had issues with Buffalo Mgmt., yet when he came to Seattle, he was ship shape. Sometimes when guys get disgruntled, they just rebel until they get traded or released.

Different situation, they built the offense around LF, Lynch in Buffalo, was just not working. With Brady, and Arians, I think even if he is not what he was it gives them more options.

I think he's gonna do just as well in Tampa as Lynch did with us. I'd be willing to bet Brady called that shot.

Yea, but we traded a 4th and a 5th for Beast. The Jags couldn't even get a 6th for Fournette and were forced to release him.

The other difference is that Beast had several injuries and a suspension in his last full season with the Bills and had been replaced in the starting lineup by Fred Jackson, who went on to have a 1,000 yard rushing season. Lynch finished that season with just 450 rushing yards and never broke 100 yards/game, making him expendable and which could account for the relatively low trade value.

Not so with Fournette, who last season rushed for 1100 yards/17 TD's, and 500+ receiving yards in 15 games. Who wouldn't trade a 6th rounder for the 4th overall in the 2017 draft still on his rookie contract and who just turned in that kind of season?

I'm not saying he won't thrive in Tampa Bay, but there's something that's not adding up for 31 teams to pass on him for a measly 6th rounder.
