I don't know how you can look at Jamal Adams stats, know how important the safety position is to Pete's defense, and believe Colin Cowherd when he seems to know nothing about the team. The legendary Legion of Boom was created around two of the best safeties in the league. Thunder (Kam) and Lightning (Earl). Pete's defense runs better with great safeties.

ASF is right on this one, Obi. How many rings does JJ Watt have? Or Aaron Donald? How about Kahlil Mack? Pete knows defense, specifically his defense. If he wants to push his chips to the center of the table on a safety, I'm OK with it. Cowherd is a talking head. What he says doesn't trump Pete's record.

Wow not the double team. No question, if just making the playoffs is your goal, Pete has been gold. However River, you and I both know that this Division and league are only going to get harder. Like it or not this Offense has not kept pace with the rest of the league. I am not downgrading Jamal Adams, but is he a head trip? IF he is not then it may be a good trade, if he is we sold the farm for one guy, when has that ever worked?
Again I hope I am wrong. Either way you guys both know that defenses drool and offenses rule, I dont think one good guy on defense gets us to the NFC title game.

Maybe he just didn't want to be on a loser team like the JETS.

For those fans that think we are "wasting Russell's career"... I think this move is exactly what the team needed to do and the cost, when you really think about it, is at best a guess at what two more 25+ draft picks would actually do for us, in maybe 3-5 years from now vs the potential for a multi-year all-pro who is rated by other NFL players in the top 30 for maybe 6 more years. So, isn't that helping Russell?

JS made another of his bold & calculated moves, That is what I think. Also frees up the salary of both these #1 picks to use for more moves (Clowney?) for one year and maybe the contract next year for Adams depending on how much the players and league agree to brings the Cap down.

That's just it. I'm of the motto "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." Outside of his contract dispute and related matters, there's nothing in Adams' past, including his college career at LSU, to indicate that he's a 'head case' so I'm inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. There's a good chance that his issues with the Jets was just an anomaly and not a true reflection of his personality and coachability. Not so with a player like Percy Harvin, who had MULTIPLE issues, including physical altercations, prior to his gig with us.

Adams has been saying all the right things since the trade, that he respects the Hawks' past, that he wants to retire as a Seahawk, and so forth. One possible motivational factor for him might be that after his experience with the Jets, he doesn't want to be labeled a "head case" so he'll bend over backwards for us just to avoid that tag.

As I said earlier, Adams is saying all the right things since having been traded. It appears that him and Diggs have a relationship going back to their college days, calling him a few hours before the deal was finalized.

"He (Diggs) was one of the first people that I called when I did find out that I got traded,” Adams said. “It was Saturday and my agent was like ‘man, don’t tell anybody, like that you’re getting traded to Seattle,’ and I was like alright, then I called Quandre and said man, ‘It might go through, it might go through.’"

https://www.nbcsports.com/northwest/sea ... r-seahawks

There's also this quote from Adams: “I’m excited to be here. I’m excited to be a Seattle Seahawk. When I got the call, honestly, I broke down in tears of joy,” Adams said. “This is my calling. This is where I need to be.”

Hopefully this alleviates some of the concerns expressed by others that Adams might be a "head case."

I saw Pete's press conference the other day and his rational is that Adams brings something that is
so different to the team that it was worth those picks. I inferred from his statements that he thinks
Adams is a game changer and that there aren't many players in the NFL like him. He equated Adams
with Polomalu in how they see the game, but not stature of course. He said both have a view of what
is going on and aren't afraid to take advantage of what they see. He doesn't want to box Adams in as
that would negate what makes him special.
That attitude is something we've been missing the last few years.

I love this trade. I don’t care what others say. John Lynch had 3 top 10 draft picks (including a second and a 4th). That kind of capital wouldn’t be with it. But picking in the late twenties year after year? Yeah!!!! I’d take an all-pro sure thing vs. the unknown. Adams is the best safety in the league. Paired with Diggs, we have the best safety tandem in the league. I love it!!!

Hi folks.

I agree that it looks like a good trade for us. Three new starters on the O-Line and three in the secondary... hope they're fast learners.
Football is back! The first day at the VMC with real on-site practice. One month to the start of the season.
