Seattle thought he reminded them of Sherman. Browner comparison could be closer.......

hasn't stepped on the field yet. So much for social distancing... hope it wasn't true, but the charges are all felonies.

On a side note, the Sheriff sure must of enjoyed using Twitter along with "team" tag lines, like he did this during the season or something. So lame.

No kidding. Reminds me of Pacman Jones. Those guys were truly blessed with talents that could have earned them millions and set themselves up living in luxury for the rest of their lives. As Obi would say, they tore up their lottery tickets. And to think that there are millions of us that spend our entire lives working our fingers to the bone and end up with nothing but boney fingers.

Well said, River Dog and others. Hope you’re keeping safe.

What a waste of a talent. This situation hurts more because the Hawks are one of my bright sides these days. What a shitty year on a catastrophic, global scale. And to do something insanely ridiculous, like armed freakin robbery when you make so much money already.

What in the actual Fbomb...smh

Hopefully we hear more. But this sounds like a guy used to handling things on his own in a dispute with someone else who decided he wanted to play at being Tony Montana rather NFL cornerback.

Thanks asking, Stream Hawk. Yes, the wife and I have been in virtual self isolation for the past two months and only venture into a store twice a week, always wearing a mask and staying away from others. We're both 65 and my wife has two auto immune diseases so no telling what the virus would do if she were to acquire it.

This is just so weird.
The gathering had a seemingly well heeled guest list with people wearing $18,000 and $25,000 watches, Baker got a $6 million bonus last
year, and they bring guns then pull them when "disrespected"? What's wrong with those guys? Why would you even bring a gun to a soiree
consisting of such people of means?

Dumb and Dunbar if you ask me.

According to this article, Dunbar has 5 witnesses who signed sworn affidavits stating he was innocent.

As usual, the truth is somewhere in the middle.
I hope he is innocent of this.

Here's the link to the article you're talking about:

There appears to be conflicting stories given by the witnesses and victims of the robbery. The PA has issued an arrest warrant for Dunbar. We'll see if he gets charged.

Detectives just reiterated that none of their witnesses have recanted anything so far. These other so-called '5' witnesses were not the ones who gave the original statements. The team has about 2 weeks before they either need to believe him or cut bait. June 1 it costs us $$$.

Now, the lawyer for the other 'criminal' just made a similar statement that his client didn't do it, wasn't involved. This will be interesting. In the meantime, they're both on the lam.

All kidding aside, I just listened a few times to the Dunbar audio hookup with the Seattle reporters.
Think about that. What's the point for him to do it if the crime, as stated, is true? And listen to his voice. How much sleep would he have had between the robbery and interview? Zero!

There is not 1% in his voice of being tired, hyper, drunk, or anything. He seems way too calm and prepared for the interview to have just done a OJ armed robbery a few hours earlier, you know, what he's been accused of.

Just sayin' -- I'm not betting the ranch something smells in this, but I've dealt with humans and meetings and interviews for 30 years and this is not what I would expect.

With those recanting their statements, I think there might be some hope that no charges will be laid.
Consider:
Most crimes where $15,000 up to $20,000 watches are stolen, the names of the victims and their business
ties come out to the press. I haven't been able to find any info, has anyone else?
Illegal gambling - supposedly up to $70,000 - now on Police radar. Is the IRS next?
Do these guests want the exposure of a trial with NFL players that will surely follow?

I think this might mean nobody will press charges and that the case against Dunbar and
Baker will be a lot weaker with the affidavits saying they weren't involved. - if it even happened.

I think they at least have hope for the charges to be dropped.
The wild card is the prosecutor and if he wants to make a name for himself.

The NFL personal conduct policy is another matter.

That's the $64,000 question as far as the Hawks are concerned. We only have a couple of weeks before we need to decide whether or not to cut bait. The league normally lets the legal process play out before issuing any discipline and it doesn't sound like a decision on whether or not to press charges will be made by then.

I think there's a light at the end of the tunnel for Dunbar. Way too much from both of the kid's lawyers, to any longer think there might be something fishy. This now officially stinks.

We're hearing one side of the story, Dunbar's, or rather Dunbar's attorney, of whom has no limitations on what he can say to get the charges on his client dropped. I'm not saying he's lying, but defense lawyers have been well known to have used unethical tactics to get their clients off. The prosecuting attorney, on the other hand, can't say very much about the case pre-trial.

For Dunbar's sake, I sure hope that the charges are false. It certainly doesn't make sense that a person in his position would knowingly jump off the gravy train he was riding.

The lawyer makes the point that it will be very difficult for the prosecutor to get a conviction with the shady characters
that are claiming to be victims. It might be a shakedown, or it might just be a tactic by the lawyers, but putting two
wealthy young men who have no history of trouble against some people of lesser repute might be a hard sell for any
prosecutor considering how many have supposedly recanted.

I'm still concerned about the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy and its administration though.

Once again, all we have is the opinion of the defense attorney regarding the credibility of the witnesses. If they are as shaky as he claims, then it's doubtful that the PA will proceed with charges. PA's are mindful of their conviction records.

Agreed about the concern regarding the personal conduct policy.

As far as the Personal Conduct Policy goes, they weren't accused of doing / selling drugs or beating up their girlfriends, so if the charges don't go, what part of the policy would they have issues with from the NFL?

This part: Conduct that undermines or puts at risk the integrity of the NFL, NFL clubs, or NFL personnel.

It's an intentionally broad and very vague statement. It means that all they have to be guilty of is poor judgement, of hanging with the wrong crowd, of being irresponsible. They don't have to be accused of anything.

But I get your point. If there's no charges filed, it's unlikely that they will face any discipline from the league.

To be fair anyone can be arrested, anyone can have charges....Doesn't mean you actually did it. Ive been arrested a good 3 times. No convictions. No lawyers even needed in my cases. It can happen to anyone. We will have to see what happens here. I think even the commish might not issue any discipline

More trouble for Dunbar:

Video evidence, Instagram DMs, testimony show payoff cover-up for DeAndre Baker and Quinton Dunbar, further implicate NFL players in crime.

The explosive warrant, obtained as a public record from the Broward County (Fla.) Clerk of Courts, seeks access to iCloud accounts associated with Baker and Dunbar. The warrant cites evidence collected through previous warrants, which includes video footage and direct messages that allegedly show witness Dominic Johnson oversaw the payoff of Baker’s and Dunbar’s four alleged victims on May 15 at the office of Dunbar’s attorney, Michael Grieco.

“I made them same n----s that said they got robbed come in and say them Boys ain’t have nothing to Do with it,” Johnson allegedly wrote on May 16 in a series of incriminating direct messages on his Instagram account, @powerballnick_305.

All four victims have given sworn statements that they were paid at the office that day to recant their sworn initial statements against Dunbar by signing affidavits. Combined, the four men say they were paid a total of $55,000.

You bet the lawyer is 'disputing'... his law career is on the line, not to mention that he is also an elected Florida State House Representative.

Supposedly he left the room in his office where the 'transactions' were about to happen. Not sure that's enough. Looks obvious that at least one person had a camera going during this time.

Even if he was still in jail and not at the meeting, unfortunately, I think this means that Dunbar won't be a Seahawk, if even 50% of this new info is true.

The lawyer for Baker is claiming that it’s proof that this was a shakedown and no
crime was committed by his client and I guess it would have implications for
Dunbar, too.

I think with all that's gone on and the history of the complainants that it might be difficult
to get a conviction. It hurts both sides that money was offered and accepted to change the
testimony, so that sows doubt about their honesty.

It would be our luck of late that he never plays a down again, but you never know.

Yup. The default for the legal system has to be to the accused. Nevertheless, it still stinks, and it wouldn't surprise me if the league were to take action even if the charges are dropped.

I don't think we can complain too much about 'our luck' as it involves the legal system. Kendricks was never prevented from participating with us due to his legal problems.

By luck meant bad luck with draft choices of late. I know we didn’t draft him but we gave
up a 5th for him so if he doesn’t play we will have got nothing for that pick.

Dunbar is changing lawyers and his former lawyer said that after the alleged
robbery, the complainants waited an hour before calling the police. His allegation
is they were concocting the robbery story to shake down the players.
