I know that earlier in his life Josh had alcohol issues, too. Maybe that challenge is behind him, or under control and
he just struggles with pot now. I hope for his sake that's his only issue.

I think you're right. Gordon did get a DUI in 2014 and was suspended in 2015 for testing positive for alcohol. It's not clear if that test was part of his probation after his DUI or part of the league's testing program. I'll have to revise my statement about his only problem being pot. Nevertheless, Gordon's substance abuse problems aren't coupled with personal conduct issues like they were with players like Aldon Smith.

If his substance abuse problems were coupled with a locker room or coaching issue, then I'd be a lot more reluctant to bring him back. But with Gordon, I don't see him as being a huge risk so long as we have plenty of strings attached to any contract he signs with us.
