As it came out yesterday KJ had surgery, now the first pick make sense.

KJ had surgery before. Made sense to me before this information. KJ missed 11 games in 2018. This is his 10th year in the league at an extremely physical position.

Brooks had shoulder surgery, too so that's a bit of a concern long term.

If it was like my shoulder surgery, ie a rotator cuff repair, which are the most common shoulder surgeries, it will be stronger than it was before the injury. I'd be more concerned about an Achilles injury he had, although I don't know the details of that, either.
