Earl, Sherman, and Bobby are slam dunks. I don't think Kam gets a sniff of the HOF, not only because of his longevity, but there was a very noticeable drop off in performance after he returned from his holdout. It's too bad as he was the the heart and soul of our defense like Beast was for our offense.

You just now noticed that? It's been that way forever.

As far as Beast making the HOF, it's probably not in the cards. His stats just aren't good enough, 16th in career rushing touchdowns, 29th in rushing yards, and he has just the one ring.

If he wouldn't have languished in Buffalo, he'd be in the Hall. He was the most throwback RB I've seen in the modern era. Just a real angry runner.

There's only two runners that I've ever seen like him: Larry Czonka and Earl Campbell.

My favorite trivia/tidbit about Czonka is that he's the only running back in the history of the NFL to ever be penalized for unnecessary roughness while he was carrying the ball. Even Beast can't make that claim.

Had to watch some Csonka after this. I really miss how masculine the nation was back then. Football was brutal back then.

I can remember watching the game where Czonka was flagged for unnecessary roughness. I think it was against the Bengals, and Zonk was about to go out of bounds when this DB was going to lay one on him even though it wouldn't have made any difference in how much he gained when he blasted him with his free forearm. Shula went ballistic when they threw the flag.

The Dolphins had 2-1,000 yard backs in one 14 game season, Czonka and Mercury Morris. I don't think they threw the ball more than 15-20 times a game. That's why I get so ticked at these GOAT discussions as there isn't a common standard to measure players by like there is in baseball or basketball. Apples vs. oranges.

Yeah I watched that game too, the Dolphins were my team then ... Zonk's stiff arms were more forearm shivers than stiff arms ... he wouldn't push you away like Beast does, he'd try and break your facemask!

Mine, too. That was pre-1976, so the early 70's Dolphins were one of my favorites. With no help from Mr. Google, I can still name all but two of the starters (the OT opposite Norm Evans, the OG opposite Larry Little) on offense, about half of the No Name Defense.

Yea, Kuechenberg was the center, played for a lot of years. Good call on Langer, although I thought he was an OT. Others on the offense, from memory: WR's Paul Warfield and Howard Twilley, TE Jim Mandich, QB Bob Griese, RB's Morris, Czonka, and Jim Kiick, aforementioned OT Norm Evans and OG Larry Little.

But I'll be damned if I can name a lot of the No Names: Manny Fernandez and Bill Stanfill, Jake Scott and Dick Anderson, and an Italian-named MLB...HOF'er that I should be shot for not knowing. Gino something? Played for the Patriots prior to the Dolphins.

I like to think about getting old is that it's better than the alternative. :D

Edit: Nick Buoniconti was the MLB whose name I couldn't recall.

So I used a draft simulator and did a mock draft.
This is a dream draft, but it just worked out. I traded down a few times to get these picks.
These are fun, but they are inaccurate because they are dependent on the sites big board
and their view of each teams needs.

44. Isiah Wilson, T Georgia
59. Raekwon Davis DT Alabama
70. Jabari Zuniga DE Florida
101. Willie Gay Jr. OLB Mississippi State
115. A.J. Dillon RB Boston College
133. Robert Hunt OT/OG Louisiana
144. Hunter Bryant, TE Washington
185. Anfernee Jennings DE Alabama
197. Raequan Williams DT Michigan St.
214, Michael Onwenu G Michigan
