obiken wrote:Yeah, good point. Now Bob what happens IF no team signs him and the Hawks cannot come to an agreement, and the FA deadline passes?
NorthHawk wrote:I wonder if he's developed a reputation amongst GMs that he's difficult to deal with or has unreasonable expectations. This is 2 teams now he has had trouble coming to an agreement.
NorthHawk wrote:We released Tedrick Thompson and Ed Dickson today.
That gives us about $5mm more in Cap space.
RiverDog wrote:A solid signing and especially when you consider our anemic pass rush it looks like a great addition, but you have to wonder given the sack numbers he put up in such limited play why he didn't receive any better offers than a paltry $2M.

We signed most of our RFA's this week, so, f they were all 'free agents' and not counted against our cap, where does that leave us now? I know that these players weren't starters, but all told, it's got to be around 10m in cap gone.

RiverDog wrote:Proof positive that we've moved on from Clowney and perhaps Griffen as well.
would you rather have Hunt, Hollister, and Moore for 8 million or Clowney and Griffen??
mykc14 wrote:The Hawks are still sitting with about 12 mil of cap space, but will need about 4 mil to sign drafted players, so in reality they have about 8 mil. They definitely still have enough to sign Clowney, if they want to especially because they can maneuver the cap how they want. They could also sign them to a longer contract and lower their cap number. My issue has always been would you rather have Hunt, Hollister, and Moore for 8 million or Clowney and Griffen?? Or if we were at 13 mil and Clowney would have taken 15 why not let one of them walk and get that deal done with Clowney? Clearly there wasn’t a big market for any of them as they didn’t get one other contract offer. Hunt clearly is a league minimum type of guy and we are doubling that for him. Anyway, we still have room for Clowney or Griffen, it’s just frustrating we haven’t gotten it done yet. At this point it makes the most sense to wait until after the draft, but that might bring in another team to bid up his price too...
c_hawkbob wrote:Still, Clowney and Griffen.
Agent 86 wrote:I like this signing, they really needed a vet as insurance for Carson and Penny. Hyde had a really good year last year, I remember him being a physical runner. I had heard the Hawks made an offer to D. Freeman as well this week, so something was brewing there.
Wonder if Josh Gordon gets reinstated, if the Hawks will look at signing him back. He would be a good #3/4 WR on this team to go with Lockett, Metcalf, and Dorsett.
The offense looks like it is good to go, plenty of depth now, just a matter if the O-line comes together, always the big question. Still want Clowney back, that would be a great offseason.

Now HE’s a mental case.
jshawaii22 wrote:Russell also wanted AB last year and he went East. Not sure if either AB or Josh would really help us without a training camp.
Josh helped in a couple of games, but overall really wasn't "that" receiver. AB would give us a 3rd legit deep threat.

I have zero interest in AB.
