17 games seems unbalanced. 18 would be better. But 18 would require more bye weeks. I'd think 3 bye weeks for an 18 week season would work best. 4 more weeks of football for TV deals, but the players get two extra weeks off during the season to recuperate. I'd prefer 18 games and no extra playoff teams. Extra playoff teams weakens the entire playoffs IMO. The NBA season is worthless. Hockey seasons are worthless (though, IMO, hockey is worthless). The MLS over does it as well. I'd hate to see the regular season become pointless because so many teams make the playoffs.

Welcome to the Shack!

Agreed about the extra playoff teams. It cheapens the regular season. I like the format the way it is.

The 17th game would probably be done with a 5th interconference game with a same place finisher in one of the divisions not part of the current rotation. For example, in 2020 we will be playing the AFC East. If they were to add a 17th game, it could come from the same place finisher in either the AFC Central (Titans), AFC West (Broncos) , or AFC North (Steelers). This would give them more marquee matchups with more 1st place finisher matchups and more of a likelihood of a SB rematch.

I like the idea of a 17th game for personal reasons. It would likely expand the international series, and I'd love to have it as an excuse for me to travel to some foreign country to watch my Seahawks. I had an absolute blast in London in 2018.

The NFLPA has moved the deadline for players to submit their vote back 2 days from Thursday the 12th to Saturday the 14th:

They've also denied a request by some players to change votes that were already cast. Not sure what all that means or if it means anything.

There's now a possibility that Okung will sue to block the CBA vote.

I'm not sure what grounds a court could use to get involved with a collective bargaining dispute. Okung has the NLRB through which he can file his grievances. I've heard of parties in collective bargaining disputes going to court to get a back to work order, but never one to prevent a vote from occurring.

Okung needs to get out of the way and let the process play out.

Although I agree with you, Okung has hired a high profile lawyer to advise him if he has a case.
