As a sports fan, I dread this time of year. Football is over and baseball isn't cranked up yet. Not that baseball is that interesting anyway, mind you. But it's something and there are games everyday. With March madness there is some pick me up but it's a ways off yet as well. There is the NBA but I lose interest in pro basketball with each passing year. Yes, the late winter sports doldrums have set in! I can't wait for September and the return of college football.

College football? What about our Hawks?! Not sure about the XFL. I'll check it out, but I'm not too optimistic.

I hear what you're saying. I, too, have lost interest in the NBA and CBK is only mildly entertaining up until March Madness, which I really like. Baseball has lost a lot of its appeal mainly because the Mariners are one of the sorriest franchises in all of major league sports.

I watched the XFL some last year and the quality of play was very obviously sub NFL.

I love the Hawks but college football is #1 in entertainment value for me.

I agree Trents, its the dog days of sports. I am a Hockey fan but the Blackhawks are done. So I wait till the Timbers and the dog days of summer.

I suggest during these times you find a good TV show to watch. I just started "Ray Donovan" a couple weeks ago (Showtime), oh my, what a show! Just finished the first season and this is already one of my favourites.

Trents, I don't. I just can't get into it. The only CFL I watch is the 2nd half of the Grey Cup after the Seahawks game is over that day. Think the last CFL game I attended was in the late 1980's. I do one day want to go to a Grey Cup when it comes back to Vancouver just to experience it. And there are a few rules in that league I like, but I never got into it as a kid, it was only NFL and NHL for me.

Oh man, RiverDog, that was at the 2011 CFL Alumni Legends banquet when Kapp punched out Angelo Mosca. Mosca wasn't in a wheelchair at the time, but had a cane, and he didn't hesitate using it to try and smack Kapp on the head with it. Apparently the rivalry between those 2 stemmed back to the 1963 Grey Cup. Definitely a classic moment!

That was it! Funny how I thought Kapp's 'opponent' was in a wheelchair.

Although he threw the ball like a wounded duck, I always liked Joe Kapp. I've seen place kicks with better spirals than what Kapp threw. If I am not mistaken, he has the distinction of being the only person to play in a Rose Bowl, a Grey Cup, and a Super Bowl.
