GB-Niners

Postby NineR » Tue Jan 14, 2020 9:50 am

Hope all have a good offseason. Just wanted to say if Sea would have beat GB I would have alot more stress this week. I think we can handle GB but Hawks are always the unknown and they really upset my pals. LOL

All my 49'er buddies were glad GB won the game, none of them wanted to face the Hawks again. I think your D is that good, and should handle the Packers this weekend. I honestly don't even think it will be much of a game. Kind of a shame the football world got denied the rubber match between the Hawks/9'ers, but Hawks just didn't execute well enough on Sunday.

This offseason is another big one. Have to find the right pieces to fit into the mix. Lots of room for upgrades. Big decision coming on Clowney. He really endeared himself to this team by playing through his injury and not worrying about his impending free agency, I like to think John and Pete will want to keep him and give him a nice payday.

I agree with 86, we match up with the Niners a lot better than the Packers do as our two razor close games indicate. I expect the Niners to beat the Packers by two touchdowns, maybe more.

It looks like the matchup is better with us, but it will change if we don't stay healthy or improve and
the 49ers mature as a team. I think there's also an emotional component to it with us being such rivals
that ups the intensity.

It was 37-8 last time, it will be worse this time. A victory for the Packers would be to keep it within 14 points. 42-14 9ers.

Green Bay is weak. We would have beat them if we hadn't lost our run game near the end of the season. They don't travel West well at all.

I hate to tell you this Obi, but 37-8, a 29 point spread, is a worse outcome than your prediction of 42-14, 28 points. :D

Okay, I just think it will be as or more dominant. The Packers have nothing outside of AR that is even remotely scary to the 9ers.

I agree with you that the Niners will win handily, but not by the 4 TD's that you're predicting. Conference championship games don't often result in that big of a rout. As a rule, in those kind of lopsided games, the losing team gives up a lot of turnovers, and if there's one thing that Aaron Rodgers does well, it's taking care of the football. He's thrown just 4 interceptions in 17 games this season. I'm thinking more along the lines of 24-10 Niners.

The latest betting line is Niners -7.5 with an over/under of 45 points. I'd give the points and take the Niners and go with under the 45.

All my Niner friends said the same - they are glad it wasn’t us. And it shoulda been, though the Hawks didn’t do enough. Hopefully the rivalry is meaningful moving forward. I love to hat the Niners. Shanahan has my respect & I don’t loathe him, which kinda sux. I loved to sports hate Harbaugh!

I agree. We're on an island out here when compared to the cities back east, where most of their franchises have at least one rival within a few hours drive. Plus the other two fan bases within our division, ie Rams and Cards, are two of the lamest in the league. Those years from 2011-14 were great, best rivalry in the league. And yes, Hairball had the personality that you loved to throw darts at.
