Unlike a player, it's not a fair evaluation to break down a HC's performance by season. In the case with Pete, it took him two years of relatively inferior teams before he was able to assemble the personnel needed to make a SB run, so is best coaching 'job' clearly happened much earlier and for a longer period of time than our 2013 season when we won the Lombardi.

I believe it's harder to maintain a level of success than to build into it. It's even harder when you lose or let go of superior talent in favor of youth
and still challenge for Division titles and make the playoffs. How many teams rebuild and continue winning vs the teams the end up with good
draft picks until they find a coach who can get the most out of their talents? It's a real skill to get new players to believe both in themselves and
in the program the coach has built.

Not only that, but it's even harder to rebuild when you're always in the playoffs with low draft picks and more difficult schedules vs. hitting rock bottom for a couple years like the Niners have done.
