Niners-Raven game

Postby trents » Sun Dec 01, 2019 2:16 pm

Hard fought game between two heavyweights. Not many points scored, partly because of he weather. Seahawks now have the division title in their own hands. Pats, niners and Ravens are the three best teams in the league at this stage of the season. Vikes and Seahawks are in a niche below those three.

With us having the Niners at home in week 17 we've had the division in our own hands since we beat them in SF. All this does is change the graphics of the playoff scenarios on the football analysis shows and FB memes ... well, that and improve our tiebreak situation with them if we lose that week 17 game.

Actually I think it depends on how the 9ers do next week against the Saints.

E.g. We lost to the Ravens and Saints. If the 9ers beat the Saints and we lose to them in week 17, then they would have the better record but if they lose to the Saints then they have to go way down the tie breaker scenarios to figure out who will have a 1st rd. bye and who will have to play on the road throughout.

The Niners losing today was huge as we can now afford at least one loss and still play them for the division title in Week 17. If we win tomorrow, then they'll really be under pressure to win next week vs. the Saints.

This is a fun time of the year as we start separating the wheat from the chaff.

Yeah but what if they win in Seattle which I would bet they will, then it will come down to the 3rd tie breaker, which is what?

Yes, this was what I meant in the first post. You said it better, RD. The odds are better now for us.

My concern is that the injury equation has tipped in the niner's favor since we beat them in Seattle and we will also be playing in their house.

As Obi said, we get the Niners at home in Week 17. We beat them in their house.

As far as injuries are concerned, it's still too early to tell if that will be a factor in our next game with the Niners. They have 3 more games to play and we have 4. A lot could change by then.

Ravens helped us out today. Now we completely control our fate with only the Saints having more control than us.

In that respect, nothing's changed since last week. We were in control of our own fate except for the Saints even before the 49'ers loss. What it did do was make things a little easier for us with respect to winning our division. We can now afford to lose at least one game between now and Week 17 and still be able to win the division by beating the Niners on our home field.

I wouldn't be so sure. After this weekend, there's several teams that could challenge for the top spot in the AFC besides the Ravens, like the Chiefs, Bills, even the Titans, who suddenly have won 5 of their last 6 games. They have a big game at Buffalo next week.

Like I keep saying, this is a fun time of the year as we head down the last quarter of the season. The weaker teams have sorted themselves out.

Actually there's been some weird results on a weekly basis. Miami beating the Eagles. Jets beat Cowboys, lose to Bengals a week after blowing the Raiders out. Speaking of which the suddenly legit Bills go into Dallas and throttle the Boys on turkey day..I was shocked by what the 9ers did to GB. I expected a win but....Yes it should be interesting for sure.

My money is still on action Jackson and the Ravens to win the AFC. NFC who knows?
