Seahawks Dream Week: Make-a-Wish!

Postby Hawk Sista » Sun Sep 01, 2019 9:19 am

Y’all may or may not remember me talking about a young family friend who fought cancer last year. He’s now 12, was 10/11 when he fought Hodgkins Lymphoma. While he lives in Fresno, he’s a die-never Hawk fan. When he finished Chemo last year we took him to the 9er game in Santa Clara last year (where we lost in OT).

Through the Make-a-wish program, he requested to meet RW. Well that was realized last week + so much more. A limo picked him up (parents too) in fresno, flew them to Seattle and treated them to 3 days of all the finest and seahawkiest of things, including playing catch with and taking handoffs from RW, meeting all the players, attending practice, going into the locker room where they had a jersey for him hanging in one off the lockers. Mykal -also from Fresno - gave him his gloves. & on & on. Chatted it up with Pete & he and the other kids were recognized at the final preseason game.

We are headed over for brunch in a few to hear him tell the tales and show us his loot. It was such a special week for children who have been through so much. I’m an official make-a-wish fan!

Damn. Seahawks went above and beyond with Make-A-Wish too. I expect it from Pete, John, and Russ.

Its such a great thing to hear how these players take the time to make a kids day. We know they are busy trying to get ready for the season but to take a few minutes to forever change the lives of these challenged kids renews your faith in humanity. Often times we hear about the holdouts, the prima donnas and so on so it is great to hear about the time and effort the players and team put into giving back. Makes me happy that I'm a Seahawk fan!!!
