govandals wrote:I forgot about Tarvaris Jackson. He may be the best back-up qb in the RW era. I'll bet Jackson's and Geno Smith's numbers are comparable.
Moot point, anyway.
Hopefully Geno is nothing more than a clipboard holder.
NorthHawk wrote:It’s interesting that we seemingly bettered the team in a big way while adding 10 rookies. Considering we only had 4 draft picks in March, JS has done a great job and we should have more than $60 million in Cap space next year, too.

My pick for best b/u QB is #7 TJack. He won every OT coin flip he went out for and we won each game because of it. What a great b/u QB to have.
My biggest surprise was keeping Ed Dickson. He's a little old in the tooth considering all the young dudes we kept as B/Us. I could of seen keeping Brown as our W/R over him now that I know we only paid 7m in cap for Clowney. Now, that move doesn't make any sense at all.
Who is the #2 receiver?
c_hawkbob wrote:I'm not sure about Marsh either, but just as with Brown, my default position is to trust Pete where defensive players are concerned.
As far as the best Seahawks BU QB, I cant believe no one has mentioned the backup we had that was better than half of our starters ... Trent Dilfer was without question the best backup we ever had.

c_hawkbob wrote:We just re-signed Brown and put Dixon on IR. Which makes cutting Jaron in the first place make better sense now; we wanted to be able to get Dixon to IR in regular season so we'd have him available for the stretch run. If we'd IR'd him Saturday it would have been for the season.
Either John doesn't mind rolling the dice exposing key role players to free agency or we are getting handshake deals with them to hold tight while we shuffle the roster a bit.
c_hawkbob wrote:Now we cut Calitro ... I'm just gonna just up & let this play out a couple day before I ask WTF.
Oh, I'm not questioning the team's judgement on any of the cuts. I was just expressing my surprise.
I think the discussion about backup QB's was limited to the Russell Wilson era, or at least that's how it started out.
jshawaii22 wrote:I think this past 2 days of cutting and resigning Brown and IR'ing Dickson means that Pete reads this blog and realized he made a big mistake. It's OK. It's why we're all here.
Now he needs to rethink Calitro. Nothing against Shaquem Griffin, but he's not the LB that Calitro is. Maybe it's the Special Teams play of Shaquem, who is very good downfield.
