The Hall of Fame Game is August 1st (Broncos vs. Falcons), Hawks first preseason game vs. the Broncos is on Aug. 8th , the NFL opener (Packers vs. Bears) is on Thursday, Sept 5th, and the Hawks season opener vs. the Bengals is on Sept. 8th.

Like Obi, I'm anxious for the season to get started. Fricking last place Mariners were behind 7-0 in the first inning tonight.

Packers and Bears as the NFL opener...Do you know why wonder why the patriots wouldn’t be in it. I admit I’m a little out of touch this offseason.

Their stated reason was that they wanted the most storied rivalry to start their centennial season, but you have to think that the Patriots unpopularity had at least something to do with it.

A case can be made that since the AFL didn't join the NFL until much later in its history, an AFC team shouldn't be part of
this game. How valid that is, I don't know, but I can see some some logic to it.

Next season will be the 60th anniversary of the founding of the AFL, so perhaps they'll pass over an original NFL team for a Chiefs-Pats contest for the league opener?
