It's been several weeks. The Detroit Free Press reported on it on 6/27.

What a waste is an understatement. It's hard to see how anyone could pi$$ away an opportunity like he had. He'll be a good trivia question in 10 years or so.

We had a guy at Oregon, River, maybe you remember him. Cliff Harris, great cover man and punt returner. #5 on Mel Kiper's big board. Was told to stop doing stop weed by Chippy, then cut. Was caught in the NFL 2X career over. To have a life's lottery ticket and just tear it up so you can scratch the earth like the rest of us chickens, is just crazy to me.

Yea, I remember Cliff Harris. Sadly he's not the only one and football isn't the only occupation where people tear up their lottery tickets. I've seen a number of very promising careers end due to failed drug tests and sexual harassment claims.
