Don't look now, but 4 of our 5 projected starting OL were former first round draft picks. That ought to make Obi happy.

He'll be 34 this year, but interest in him might suggest if they don't sign him, WR could
be a position they would draft.
Maybe I'm just reading too much into this.

NorthHawk wrote:I don't recall any Free Agents (not draft or UFA's) or trades that worked out well here.
I wonder if it's because the trades or FA pickups were the team "swinging for the fences".

If you're JS, you have about 30m left in 2019 cap. You have only 4 draft picks, so maybe 5m of that is gone, so you have 25m to spend now.
Ideally, you would want to get at least BWags under contract now, but what about Russell and Frank?
You have 3 stars all needing new contracts -
#1 - Russell evidently wants to be the highest paid QB which puts him around 35m a year (140 over 4) (and don't they all want to be the highest paid? -- well except TB, who just wants rings, but that's another discussion)
#2 -- Frank Clark, already overpaid for this year and can't be tagged next year... if we don't want to lose Russell or Wags, if either one of them doesn't sign a new deal.
#3 -- BWags, who's just as important to our D and probably is in the 14-16m range going forward...
Who's first? Who can we afford to let go or trade? 25m not enough. I wouldn't want to be making that choice.
NorthHawk wrote:For those who are interested here are the contract details for Mychal Kendricks:
Mychal Kendricks, LB (Seahawks): One year, $4.5MM. $2MM base salary. $250K training camp bonus. $250K bonus for being on Seattle’s 53-man roster in Week 1. $1MM in incentives (playing time, sacks),

FYI Kendricks sentencing hearing is set for April 4th. He's cooperated fully with the prosecution, never once denied his involvement, and has expressed his remorse. Hopefully he'll receive a sentence that will allow him to play.

I didn't think we were far off at the end of last year so resigning as many as possible was something I really wanted to see. I think we were a team no one wanted to play at the end of the season and with the pickup of Iupati and the resigning of the guys we have, I'm really happy so far.
I don't see a hole in our offense other than maybe WR with the ???? around DB. Maybe address that position with one of our draft picks would be good.
I'd like to see us boost our DBs a bit and maybe one draft pick for depth at LB since we are unsure about Kyndricks. I can't wait to see Poona take Mebane's position this year and work into the starting rotation there. Other than that, I don't see a lot of holes on this team. Depth may be a question but I'm stoked for the offense with the Oline, RBs, QB, and TEs.
(Yes, I know Mebane left a couple years ago but I don't think we ever picked up the run stuffer to replace him yet.)
NorthHawk wrote:I keep forgetting about Jamarco Jones.
He was doing pretty well for a rookie when he was injured, but it was early so maybe he will
be fully recovered by TC and give some competition.
I still think drafting a G might be in the cards considering the injury history of both Iupati
and Fluker.

The person I keep forgetting about is Pocic.

But there's still a lot of work to do.

idhawkman wrote:I know where you are on Ifedi but I also have to say that he was leaps and bounds better when he had a good Guard next to him. I think he took leaps forward this past year and if they can keep that consistency a little bit I think he will turn out to be a good to great part of our Running game. (It also doesn't hurt to have Fant line up outside him, too)
NorthHawk wrote:We may be able to upgrade the RT spot, but a rookie will probably be worse than Ifedi to start the year and maybe a full year. OLinemen coming from college just aren't ready for the NFL with a few very highly rated players being the exception. So Ifedi has now had 2 years at RT and shown improvement. I think he's starting to get it and will become a solid player maybe as soon as this year. He may never be an All Pro, but I think he can be a good RT in the NFL.
