Because they can't buy him off.
We were only suppose to be in Syria a few months - that was 4 years ago. Our mission there was to kill ISIS and take away their Caliphate. Those missions have been accomplished. Now they want to have mission creep and stay to protect the Kurds from our NATO ally, stay as a counter balance to Russia and Syria, etc. It isn't our fight and we don't need to creep this mission anymore. Bring them home and spend the money on our technical abilities.
Wars have advanced technology throughout history, however, never ending wars just deplete nations of their wealth. Russia now has a supersonic missle that we can't defend against. Not even here on the home front. Should we spend another $60B over there this year or invest that into upgrading our defense system in stopping the super sonic missles? Hm.... let's think on this one.... Yep, give me door A Monty, the dancing penguines....
China just landed a vehicle on the dark side of the moon. (No this is not a Pink Floyd album or joke). I know people wanted to laugh at Trump when he started the Space Force talk but maybe we should really consider what a space force would protect us from.
Just a random thought here, has anyone ever thought about what the governements of the world would do if they knew the Earth was on a crash course with an asteroid or if they knew the sun was burning out? Would they tell us? What activities would they invest in?
