Just how good is Russell Wilson REALLY?

Cold Hard football Facts has been all over Wilson since he was a rookie, they get it, and have accurately predicted his ascent and domination (as well as the Seahawks as a whole) time and time again.
This sort of encapsulates what they've been saying about him all along.

As we talked about on the Shack before - Russell did what he did last year with the Worst Pass Blocking offensive line in the NFL.

I would be surprised if any team (QB) has ever won a Superbowl (in the past 20 years anyway) with the statistically worst pass blocking offensive line in the league?

I not sure any other QB in the league would have gotten this team into the Superbowl and won it other than Russell.

As much as I love Richard, Earl and Marshawn as Players - Russell Wilson is our most irreplaceable player.

For those who don't know about or frequent CHFF, that site accurately predicted the Seahawks winning the Superbowl from before the season started, based on the statistics, the numbers that they crunched over and over again.

The two main reasons boiled down to this; 1. the Seahawks have the best passing defense in the game, and, 2. the Seahawks have a top 10 passing offense as well, even though it constantly gets overlooked by the media and fans alike. Those two things combined produced what they claim to be the mother of all stats, the single greatest indicator of a championship season, passer rating differential. http://www.coldhardfootballfacts.com/stats/2013/Final/PRD/

The simple truth is, statistically speaking it is FACT that Russell Wilson is (as the article says) at worst the second best second year QB of ALL TIME!
Think about that...only Dan Marino had a better first two years to his career, and what Marino did was completely off-the-charts spectacular!
Russell Wilson is simply outstanding, and when people try to say that Luck, or RG3 or Kaepernick are the best of this young guns bunch, they're provably full of it statistically!

Anyway, if you guys aren't frequent visitors of CHFF you should be, it's a terrific site. I don't usually pimp other sites but that one ranks up there with the best of the best, like FieldGulls for sheer awesomeness.

Now I absolutely love Russell Wilson and there's not a quarterback in the game today that I'd trade him for, but 2nd best EVER?

I stopped reading after I read that line.

Cmon Riv..you gotta read a little closer than that:

Win or lose Sunday, he is at worst the second-best second-year quarterback the league has ever seen.

2nd best 2nd year QB ever, statistically speaking. I don't think that statement is off at all.

If you do, it wouldn't surprise me. But I would love to hear the argument to that. It could make for a great end of season RW3 debate.

Sorta like the one after the Atlanta playoff game you started 2 years ago. Man, I think you actually took a break from the PI during that one for all the flack you got.

Hoping you just missed the 2nd year part, and not thinking they were implying he was the 2nd best ever QB, EVER!

Russell Wilson is the best QB ever in the NFL
Would you believe best in the 2000's?
How about best in the NFC since 2012?
Would you settle for best on his team?

From reading other blogs and forums from around the country, I see an argument over and over again that sticks in my craw. That is the only reason RW is doing so well is because he has the more complete team around him (when mostly compared to Luck). They overlook the offensive line and injuries there, Harvin out, and the "pedestrian receivers". They point to having the #1 defense to take the pressure off (some merit there).

RW has just begun. I am hoping for more championships and a continuation of record setting on RW"s part to cement himself a legacy and shut their pie holes.

Russell Wilson and the offense will be even better in 2014-15 than they were when they won the Super Bowl. I firmly believe our Seahawks are going to repeat but that RW is going to be the league MVP!

WOW, remember before the start of last season when some pundits were speculating whether or not RW would have a sophomore slump?? Well, he certainly answered those critics didn't he?

As the Hawks improve the O-Line Wilson's production will only go up not how conservative Pete wants the offense to be. RW will have another season of experience under his belt and I can only imagine his numbers if the TE's can run routes instead of blocking most of the time.

Wilson is always going to be a high percentage thrower and be a QB who knows how to protect the ball. I mean, look at those QBs who put up all kinds of gaudy numbers but keep giving the rock to the opposing defenses.

Wilson is our team's MVP, so, I say he is really, really good and his game is going to be trending up for quite awhile before it levels off and plateaus. Think Drew Brees/Fran Tarkenton.

Thanks for the reminder about CHFF. Great site.

Another great article:

http://www.coldhardfootballfacts.com/co ... out/28480/

"Seattle hasn’t trailed an entire fourth quarter in more than a year and a half of football. As a result, the Seahawks held a lead in the fourth quarter and/or won in overtime in 29 consecutive games, dating back to Week 8 of the 2012 season. No team can remotely match this."

Here is another great article on our Man Russell from numberfire. Russell does not need the village idiots to give him kudos he just performs by most metrics.

All great reads. And they were all written before SB 48. I'll have to check out those sites now that SB 48 is in the record books.

Great article. Besides our defense, the other thing that killed the Broncos was a Seahawks offense that would not relent either. Denver - just like San Fran - thought that if they contained Marshawn, they could "force" Seattle to throw. What they didn't expect was Seattle to throw because we wanted to. They each appeared to have bought into the "game management" buzz the media was selling. And that ... as it turns out, was a good thing.

GO SEAHAWKS!!! SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS!!!

Best ever? Who knows, but I'd say probably not. However, first-ballot Hall of Famer? Yes, I think he will do that. And yes, I know this is just his second year. Has anyone ever seen a player this competitive before? To me, that is what separates him from most of his generation.

As a team, I think the Seahawks have more competitive fire than most NFL teams, and Russell is the absolute perfect leader for them.

Ha. I hear ya, but after all is said and done, as Harrison Wilson once said, 'Why not you, Russ?'

Well, why not?

Wilson is as good as he has to be to win.
He's also unselfish as a leader and those two qualities will win him a lot of games.
He's really all you want in a QB and face of the franchise.
