Carson kept us alive he was a 1st down machine he made a lot of good runs. Marshall made a spectacular catch. Earl Thomas the int we beat a very good team today hope we can keep it up.

I think he will. He has some great catches and a couple he dropped was a fortuitous play by the defender.

It was a must win and we won. However, lets not make too much out of it. We beat Dallas at home, Dallas is not that good of football team, period.
However, as my departed dad used to say, anytime the Cowboys lose is a good day, anytime your team beats the Cowboys is a great day!!

Agreed. Dallas is not a good team by any stretch of the imagination at this point in the season. They have a struggling offense but a decent defense. So always good to win but not an occasion for a lot of optimism, yet.

Seattle wasn't having to play catch up today so the Hawks could afford to be more patient with their running game. Running game was solid but not spectacular. Carson broke 100 yards but did not have good stats per carry. 31 carries? Not sure it's wise to use him that much every week. So, the running game showed some improvement but still got a ways to go. Having big Fluker in there seemed to help.

I wonder what Baldwin was so exercised about on the sideline during the first half? He gave one of the coaches and ear full about something.

There's a lot of positives to take out of that game, I won't go as far to say Dallas is a good team, they aren't, but they on par or even slightly better than Denver and Chicago... so in that regard it's encouraging. The offense played with a little pride, the defense remains opportunistic, teams have won with less.

That said, I was severely disappointed that they still can't seem to put it all together, in the second half, Dallas was ripe for play action shots ( big reason the running game started to falter) , important everything works in unison.... short passing game on time : check commitment to the run: check take the lid off after safeties creep up into the box: nope

Defenses play tendencies, if Seattle expects to run the ball successfully, and avoid turnovers do to players jumping short routes, the play action / double moves need to be sprinkled in. Idea is to make the defense, defend the entire field, and all weapons....

There were some good and some bad things this game from my perspective.
First the bad.
Elliot was gashing our Defense in the 2nd half. He ended up with something like 127 yards rushing. That's too much to give up on the ground.
Although we had 5 or 6 sacks, we didn't get consistent pressure on Prescott.
ST looks at times to be a little shaky and we might have been had by a good returner or squad.
What was Baldwin chewing out the Assistant Personnnel guy all about?

The good.
The Offensive line looked decent and the run game came alive.
Russell got rid of the ball much quicker and they upped the tempo at times. Both things we have been suggesting for at least 2 years.
Joey Hunt did very well at Center. Better than I expected.
Fluker and Ifedi make a pretty good combination for run blocking.
The Defensive Secondary played pretty well considering the loss of Kam and Sherm.
A couple of the sacks were either coverage sacks or Prescott holding the ball too long.
McDougald is a great signing for this Defense.
Carson looks like the real deal. I just hope he can avoid injury with the way he plays.
The different play calling is an asset even though they didn't take advantage of the play action much. Getting the TE's more involved was much needed the last few years.
Sweezy played pretty well at LG and if they keep playing him we will be back to the (relatively) smaller LG and hulking RG line formula that Cable seemed to like.

This was a typical glass half full, glass half empty game to witness.

The glass half empty:

Dallas is not a playoff caliber team. Dak Prescott had a bad game, was generally off target and made some poor run/pass decisions. They gift wrapped 3 points, which gave us our two score final margin that proved insurmountable by committing a stupid is as stupid does USC penalty at the end of the first half. We lucked out by an opportunistic Earl Thomas being in the right place at the right time to pick of deflected passes, and Dallas fumbled inside the red zone in the 4th quarter that killed what looked like a promising come back for them. The penalty bug appears to still be with us as we committed 10 of them although there were some really ticky tack penalties including a very lame roughing the passer penalty. Rashard Penny doesn't look like a first round draft pick.

The glass half full:

Chris Carson looked great. First time in a long time that one of our running back provided more productivity than our QB. The line didn't provide him with gaping holes, but he did a good job of fitting through small openings and seemed to pick up a lot of yards after contact. He is head and shoulders above Rashard Penny and needs to be getting the lions share of the carries until Penny can prove himself, and they did just that. Our tight ends caught over a third of our complete passes with Nick Vanett hauling in some challenging catches. Russell played well, only took a couple of sacks, one of which was avoidable, and threw some absolute strikes into tight coverage, excellent 3rd down efficiency. And best of all, he didn't turn the ball over once. It was by far his best game of the season. On defense, Kendricks had another very good game and is proving himself to be a great pickup. Although the pressure waned as we were protecting a 3 score lead, we still got consistent pressure on Prescott through most of the game and kept him off balance. No critical breakdowns in pass coverage and they did a good job of getting off the field in 3rd and long situations.

In summary, it was a solid at home performance against a mediocre opponent, but it should keep the wolves away from the door for a few more weeks.

I could be wrong but I think most of Elliott's yards came when we were in Nickle package protecting the lead. Easier to run against than to throw against especially considering the day Prescott was having.

He was “speaking to” Trent Kirchner, the co-director of player personnel . Would’ve loved to hear that conversation.......
