May Lose a Second Round Pick

I sure as hell hope Chris Mortensen is wrong. He reported that the 5th round pick we lost for practice violations could be made a 2nd rounder due to underreporting Sherm's injury. If that happens, I will be irritated at Pete for having a hormonal moment on 710 about Sherman's year. But that is about all it was, IMHO.

I don't know the rules on reporting. Sherm never missed so much as a snap in practice, so it seems strange. That said, rules are rules and we can I'll afford to forfeit a 2nd round pick.

It's such a load of crap- they're basing the assessment of "misreporting" the injury based on offhand remarks to a radio station.

Dear NFL: get an MRI that shows Sherm's knee was truly so injured that he should have been included in the injury report.

I'm conflicted with it.
Sometimes I think maybe they should list everything starting with a hangnail but on the other side, Sherman didn't miss practices, wasn't wearing a brace, didn't miss any games and still played at a top level.
Perhaps his not missing time will mitigate the punishment.

Maybe I am just confused, but it seems to me that disclosing an injury to a player who is playing full time, endangers that player to targeting the injured part. The reporting process seems intended to prevent hiding players that will NOT play that week, so that opponents can prepare properly. Sherman missed no time, so he is guilty of what? Depriving the other team from maiming him?

Exactly why I feel that even if we are penalized not disclosing the injury was the right thing to do. The wrong thing to do was to let it slip that there ever was an injury. But that's just Pete; he likes to answer questions in a way that people will understand the answers and in so doing said a little too much ...

It's more than just a targeting issue. If the Seahawks, or anyone else, discloses an injury to a player that is starting and playing full time, especially a player like Sherman that teams many times avoid (see Aaron Rodgers, Sept 2014), then it could drastically change their game plan to go after a less than 100% shutdown corner.

I don't mind accepting a penalty if other teams have been subjected to punishment for the same crime so long as it is proportional, but it seems to me that this rule is insane.
