OT- My Dr Visit

Sorry about giving everyone a start with the posting title. I try to stay healthy as much as I can. My basic strategy is to kill all the germs that enter my system with massive amounts of alcohol & HOT Thai Food. That seems to do it for me, as I rarely even catch a cold. I was just going in for my annual checkup.

You know, the Hawks won the super bowl about two weeks after I was diagnosed with cancer.... I swear, they pulled it off to cheer me up.

It was during your fight that I changed my avatar to the current one, sis. I have become involved with the Komen foundation since losing my sister in law in 2014.

I am so sorry for your loss, Vegas...very sorry and I have always appreciated your avatar. It really means a lot. Getting involved is one way to stay sane about it all. I know I have raised a lot of resources since being diagnosed and you have likely too - I hope our efforts help stop it in its tracks. In the meantime, however, I can honestly say that here were very tangible ways those resources supported me during my year of treatment - it was very helpful and still is.

I never paid much attention to your avatar, Vegas. What a nice touch! I wish I would have thought of that myself and I'm feeling a little guilty that I didn't. Sis is one of my favorites and I would have loved to..rather, I should have done something to show my support. It goes beyond just being football fans.

Kudos to you for getting involved in the fight against cancer.

Thanks Riv, I never mentioned what was going on with Trish, (my sis in law), because I didn't want to cast a shadow on Sista's recovery process. Fighting cancer is not just a physical fight, it's a mental one as well, & a strong spirit is imperative. Support is key. It makes me feel good to do my little bit in this fight for all those people who have to deal with this disease.

Thank you, Vegas. I have to admit that when the NFL first did the pink thing some years back, I thought it was a bit much. But all be damned if it just didn't save my life. Even two years out it is a physical and emotional struggle, the likes of which I would have never guessed. Thanks a gain for all the support - you too RD. I love my guys in here.

That's great to hear, Sis. Until you're coping with it (either yourself or with someone you care about), or working directly with those fighting it, you don't really see the benefits of many of these efforts.

I lost my father-in-law to a different form a few years back, but he was beyond treatment when diagnosed so haven't yet been able to see what's out there (I'm 100% convinced I'll be dealing with it before all is said and done, though).

If saving your life Sis is all it did it's more than worth all the head shakes and eye rolls complaints about it "being a bit much" ... and you know there are other stories out there like yours.

I got no problem with the good the NFL does, they give us plenty to complain about without having to go there.

I lost my dad, who was without a doubt the best friend I've ever had or ever will have, to lung cancer two days before his 60th birthday. That was in 1985. I figured that I got robbed of at least 20 years with him.

I don't think there is a single one of us that hasn't been touched by that disease. Nice to see Sis take that frigging disease and stick it so far up it's arse that it doesn't know whether to chit or have puppies.

That was funny, RD. So sad about your Dad, though. It's never ever easy, 60 though...that's way too young.
