I hate to write this. I attended the game with my wife and my two sons. The weekend was an epic adventure with a thrilling tight game which I suspected would be the case.
But the mood in the city seemed complacent. I've been to 1-2 games per year for well over a decade now but this was my first opener. We got into town Saturday and did the tourist stuff, waterfront etc. and a few bars. I was shocked by the lack of Hawks swag and abundance of Dolphins gear.
We stayed at the pioneer square Marriot and the valet said this was the first time he could remember they weren't full for a Seahawks game. Sunday I introduced my family to sluggers. The crowd seemed slow gathering although it wound up packed as usual. But there were dolphins fans all over as well as the people in t shirts etc. who were obviously dolphins fans too pussified to represent.
A large group of dolphins fans was chanting their "here we go dolphins, here we go" basically unchallenged. I was a few places away and had had enough. I have a huge voice and every time they opened their peep I screamed SEA-HAWKS as loud as I could which shut them up quick but really not much backup from other Hawks fans, energy or chants or boos towards opposing fans as I rememberin the past.
At the game it was loud but once again, there were lots of Dolphins fans and when they made a play it was amazingly loud. A few of the regulars commented on it. I know the team we have would be as intense if nobody showed up but I hope the 12th man isn't getting burned out, lazy, or spoiled. Just saying.
Did anyone else attend and get that vibe? Or am I full of shart as usual?
