Mayock even said he had him in his top twenty of the draft. This must be what they meant when they said this draft was loaded with quality D-Linemen.

In 5 different mocks never saw Reed ranked below 31 in any of them, and as high as 12... Nothing negative I saw. Surprises me the statement about pass rushing, as in all five they pointed out his ability to push the pocket and pressure the QB.....

Holy buckets, this is hilarious!! Not only wearing a Seahawks shirt and necklace with a Mariners hat, coming up onto the stage after he got drafted, what's he showing off?

It may be that he is just limited in his pass rush moves.

He might have been asked to do the dirty work that makes the Defense successful.

That's what some scouts are saying, yes.
But even if so, who cares really? We wanted someone to do what Mebane did, and we got him.
Works for me.

I don't have a problem with the pick at all. I'm all for him being a two-down player that smashes the middle of opposing o lines. And even just forcing o line men back into the pocket has tremendous value. He's what the doctored ordered, and I like the point that he does the dirty work. The rest of the front seven will make plenty of plays with him in there.

Agreed. That one stinks. There've been a few others I would have loved as well, but that one was an ouchie.
Now I'm holding out for Kyler Fackrell!
Also, Joe Haeg, Joe Dahl, and Conner McGovern ;)

That would work nicely, though I'd prefer Haeg over Dahl just ever so slightly, since Dahl and McGovern could both move to center, but Haeg is a definite guard, and a stud. Then you get your LG, Haeg and your center McGovern, and Irvin's replacement, Fackrell, and BOOM! Mike drop.
EDIT: NOOOOOoooooo! Stupid Packers, just two picks before the Seahawks too! There goes Fackrell....

It has not FAILED, every time it is time for our pick they cut to a commercial. I mean, 3 straight times so far this draft. Appearing in 2 straight SB's changed NOTHING< the NFL still chits all over the 12's

There's our backup RB.
IMO underwhleming, but he has great hands (former WR) and can at least be our third down back.

C.J. Proissie??? Never herd of him. Criminy, they wasted this pick. A former WR?? What, he was too slow or couldn't catch the ball???? I bet we will be pronouncing his name abit differently before he is CUT.

Could have picked up this BOZO later in the draft. What a WASTE of our first 3rd Rd. pick, should have packaged him with our other 3rds. and moved up to pick a REAL player! Boy Schneider, way to screw up a good thing.

Oh, Seattle is up so it is time to cut to a commercial, AGAIN!!!

Oh, I KNOW that they have done it to us FOREVER

NO, no, no, don't go there, he's not like that trust me!
TONS of mocks had him going to us!
Notre Dame RB, former WR, has terrific hands and runs a 4.48 forty, he's PLENTY fast.
My problem with him is, he doesn't run low enough. Still, he's nowhere near a future cut, trust me.
At worst he'll be a nice third down back for us! His ability to run routes is exactly the sort of thing Pete values.

They cut to commercial on Seahawks pick AGAIN!!! Seriously...wow.

I really like it.
Nick Vannett, a late bloomer, still getting better at football.
WeIrd pick though...I thought we could get him much, much later...

I hope you are right about C.P. How about this T.E., is he any good or are they just drafting for need, like they have all draft. I am not against drafting for need, if there is not a superior foot player at another position available. I am just against drafting for need with a bunch of reaches.

Well, Seattle is up again so it is time to cut to a commercial... Oh, surprise surprise, they do NOT go to a commercial.

An often hurt Lineman. Yet another reach, another guy who could have been drafted in the 4th or 5th. and booted Schneider's rep as a great late round drafter...

NFLDraftScout/CBS Sports says the following:

IN OUR VIEW: Vannett showed he can be an every-down viable tight end where you can virtually line him up anywhere to help out an offense. He certainly is more than solid in the run game and helping to open up some holes. When given opportunities, Vannett caught the ball well

Rees Odhiambo is going to play very soon. He is extremely athletic, Cable is going to love that kid!
Now our line is really starting to look good.

Is he a Guard or Tackle only?
They mentioned an injury history and he hasn't completed a full year playing.
I would have preferred a player that can play G/C and we don't select again for about 60 picks.
Maybe someone will still be there.

Not sure how Cable sees him, I was thinking he'd compete at guard. From what I know of him though, I wouldn't be shocked if he could play center. He's REALLY athletic and could probably pull it off. Who knows though...it will be interesting to find out where he plays.

Maybe we trade back up? Could happen I suppose.

Have to admit being at a complete loss there in the third...

I could understand a TE or a RB with one of the three picks, and even had Vanette in some of my mocks, have little idea about Prosis, and the highlight film of our new guard leaves a LOT to be desired. Was that really a highlight film?

I trust them but even to my untrained eye he looked slow off the line, unbalanced, to high and not aggressive in the least.... Seems a little strange with what I believed were more "Hawks"...

CBS Sports/NFLDraftScout have this comment:

NFL COMPARISON Ali Marpet
BOTTOM LINE Well-built college tackle who NFL evaluators are projecting inside to guard. Has the footwork and technique to allow a team to give him a shot at right tackle first. Odhiambo is a coachable, team-oriented player who has the temperament, frame and strength needed to play inside, but NFL teams have serious concerns about his medicals right now. Odhiambo's pro day produced disappointing athletic testing, which means he's not where he needs to be and that will likely cost him in this draft.

Rees is a total Cable pick. It's all about that athletic ability with him. The Seahawks had him in for a visit, they spent a TON of time looking at him actually, and it was pretty obvious they liked him. He was one of the names I should have put on my list in Bob's thread, (but I accidentally left him off...I forgot what his name was, and then ended up putting someone else's name in the spot I thought he'd go, which was 5th round.), there's a reason they like him though.
Prosise is a quick player who can really catch the ball as a former WR. He makes a ton of sense for us needing a backup RB/third down back. He's fast and athletic, but still needs some seasoning as a RB. He looks like a convert to RB at times, needing to get his pad level lower. (That is my biggest complaint about him, though I am sure he can get coached up.)

I think I was just mad at the way the NFL Network was treating us, again.

After listening to the guys on the radio (and reading what u guys said) and the hearing J.S. and P.C. I agree it looks as if we got most if not all of the players we wanted.

hen T.E. was the bear "real" T.E. in the whole draft. It turns out they almost took our 2nd pick in the first, they had him rated that high. It looks as if we got the steal of the draft in C.J. and that kid from Boisie would have gone higher if not for his ankles. Okung never was hurt then battled injuries his first two seasons, maybe this guy has put the injury bug behind him.

Someone said Rob Rang has given us an A grade so I will take it.

I'm not saying it's a "bad" pick Monkey, I simply don't do that, all I'm saying is that with the priority placed on athleticism, he doesn't seem to fit the Seahawks mold ( certainly not in the "highlight" film they showed after the pick, which honestly made him look really, really bad actually). I trust them to make the picks, I'm just pointing out what I saw ( as I know little about him)... I mean the write up on him questions his athleticism, and with guys still on the board that scored extremely high in the Sparq scores it seemed odd that they chose a player with athleticism questions.

Odhiambo's pro day produced disappointing athletic testing,

Mayoock's view.
90. Seattle Seahawks: C.J. Prosise, RB, Notre Dame
NFL Media analyst Michael Robinson: "Prosise is a former wide receiver, and Pete Carroll likes players with unique skill sets. He could be a special back in this league."

Obi's view. I think there were better out there like Booker from Utah.

Round 3, Pick 32 (94) (From Broncos) Nick Vannett TE 6'6" 257 Ohio St. 5.7
Pick Analysis: "He's a made player. His first two years weren't very good, but in the last two years he was phenomenal. He has very good size and is a good route runner." -- Ohio State coach Urban Meyer
lands.

I am Ok with this except we had bigger needs.

Rees Odhiambo
Weaknesses Suffered a broken ankle that knocked him out for the season in late October. Has had to cope with injuries during his time at Boise. Never played a full season of football. Despite his physical talent, will let blocks get away from him that appear to be secured. Can be late with his hands. Not as tall or long as NFL teams are looking for from NFL tackles. Will need to prove he can play with faster hands if he bumps inside to guard. At times lingers with his punch opening him up to issues with crafty interior defenders. Would like to see him snatch and maintain his grasp rather than just punching and pushing. Despite his bend, doesn't always generate the leverage he should at the point of attack.

Draft Projection Rounds 6 or 7

Mayock likes him
Pick Analysis: "Tom Cable is going to love this guy. I have two issues with him. One, durability. Two, I don't know where to play him. Cable will love him because he's athletic, and he can turn these type of guys into good football players." -- Mike Mayock

ME--Once again we could have gotten a guy in the later rounds. Oh well!
