They might just be being cautious. This game really doesn't mean that much. Best we get everybody ready for the playoffs.

The last two games are pretty meaningless, so I expect us to hold out anyone that's questionable. The problem with that is that I'm afraid we might lose our edge in the interim.

Old but Slow wrote:It would not be good to lose the 5th seed to Minny, though, even if we should beat anyone we face. The Rams always find a way to play us tough, and they have a lot of film to study of our last few games, so we should not expect a cakewalk with them.

I like the opportunity to rest some of these guys, as this is the injury part of the season, it seems. The injury reports around the league are alarming, an none seem exempt. Here's hoping that we come through this one intact.

It's more desirable to have the 5th seed than the 6th. Having the 5th seed leaves open the possibility, however remote, of hosting a playoff game, and going to Washington or who ever wins the east in the first round may increase our chances of advancing vs. going to Green Bay... maybe.

I don't see a large difference in being in Arizona's bracket vs. Carolina's. Arizona's offense is going to be harder to stop, easier to score against, and Carolina's offense is easier to stop, defense more difficult to score against. I suppose the environment in Glendale will be more passive than Carolina, so I would give the Cards the slight edge as to which team would offer us the best chance of winning.

But none of those differences is great enough to trump getting all of our wounded warriors healthy.

Getting healthy is the key. We get most of our guys healthy we have a good chance of going all the way to Santa Clara. We play for seed and don't give our walking wounded a chance to heal up and we stand a better chance of being "one and done". This has been too tough of a season to end up like that. I want to see our guys defend their conference championship!

As crazy as it sounds Baldwin may be one of the most indispensible players on the offense. Hes been the major recipient of RW's targets.

I think the 5 seed is the best bet but Seattle can beat anyone anywhere the way they have played most of the last 2 months. Green Bay hasn't looked very good this year and we already saw how we match up with the Vikes should they pass the Pack and win that division. If the seed is locked up one way or the other I would advocate resting injured guys in week 17. The road is the road. Got to beat all of them to get the prize.

Kasen Williams was added to the active roster today. Maybe Baldwin isn't as close as PC indicated yesterday. I much prefer he rests vs play if he's anything less than 100% (I doubt anyone is 100% at this point of the season...)

Williams is the 4th undrafted receiver on the roster, and the 3rd from the UW. (Williams, Kearse and Smith) Pretty wild.

If Doug isnt close to 100 percent he should sit IMO. Its really almost a meaningless game tomorrow. After watching the Redskins tonight I think were going to be playing a good team as the 5 or the 6 seed. But without a healthy Baldwin in the postseason its going to be tough.

Guess I'm on a different page than a lot of fans here. I hope we give it our all these final two games before the playoffs. I understand we all want us to win when it matters most, but I hate throwing games and benching starters even more than losing.

How a coach manages the final couple of games of the regular season is a hotly debated subject. Rest your players and protect them from injury or go balls to the wall and keep your competitive edge?

It's such a long season and such a physically and mentally demanding sport that I think most coaches are opting for resting their players.
