The LOB is a Legion of One

Postby jshawaii22 » Fri Jul 31, 2015 11:05 pm

Can we start talking about football? -- They opened camp today! It almost seems secondary to the contract issues.

Kam on 'hold' ET, Jeremy, Simon all on PUP.... Sherman, and who knows if he's 100%, is the only "Legion" out on the practice field. Damn...

The rest of the team seems to be somewhat intact. Now, we can start worrying about who is our new LG, Center and is Britt going to improve this year enough to protect our 80million QB.

It's a blessing to win, but playing in the playoffs for 3 straight years is having a negative effect on our player's recovery from injuries and puts the team at a disadvantage.

The defensive injuries are a concern for sure. The Lane injury is particularly galling. I watched the SB again and watched over and over as Edelman came in high and then dove at Lanes knee as he planted it. It was a deliberate and extremely effective attempt to injure a player. ET worries me the most. I'm a 55 year old guy but I had a shoulder done in Dec of 2013 and it took at least 10 months to feel right. My bottom line though is I trust our 80 million dollar man, Lynch, Graham, and our pedestrian receivers to carry the water for a while. And we dont need a line we have Wilson. He has flourished while facing more pressure than any QB in the league most Sundays.

Old but Slow wrote:The positive side of the issue is that while our starters are out, our depth is getting some meaningful practice. Some backup that none of us are considering may make some noise, much like Richard Sherman did in the past. The preseason and camp are times for evaluating talent, our backups, our rookies, our free agents, and so on. All of these guys are in camp because the team has seen some value. We know what Earl, Chancellor, Wagner, Irvin and so on have to offer, so lets spend some time looking at other guys who could surprise.

Some seem to complain about the preseason games because our stars are not featured. I love those games because there is a chance to see a future star emerge. Michael Bennett is a good example, and Doug Baldwin was a free agent. The Rawlings kid at running back shows some promise, as does Kam's half brother.

Who knows? Lets appreciate the process.

Yeah, as we've seen, depth is crucial and we've lost some players the last couple of years that fit our scheme on Defense very well.
Now we get to see if the draft has provided the team with players that might develop into future year starters or at least fit what the teams wants from them.

I wonder what Kam's half brother thinks about the hold out.

I'm glad the depth is getting plenty of work, too.

Whether you can believe Carroll or not talking to the press, he says that Terrell, the back up free safety, is as fast as ET. That's an encouraging thought. I also like that Shead is getting his shot. He's not Kam, but he's got plenty of size for the strong safety position. I'll interested to see how they do in the preseason.

Unfortunately, I can't bet against the Seahawks right now. Too much heart, too many guys that come up with plays to win. If ever there were a year for a step back though, this would be it. I'll stick with 12 win prediction though until proven otherwise.

This is your opinion every year. What's that saying about a broken clock? Or the sun shining on a dogs a$$ ? Pretty much, as long as you keep saying it year after year after year, eventually you will be right, plus when you continue to make the SB it is pretty easy to " take a step back", Hell last year despite being a yard away from repeating, it was a step back from the previous season.

One thing I'm pretty sure of is the Offense better push another few points a game onto the scoreboard. With Jimmy boy catching passes, and Marshawn doing his thing, we can now 'blame' Bevel even more if they don't produce.

Simon was a giant liability last year when he was in, no question. With flashes of brilliance followed by whiff after whiff. And... One could see his immaturity was simply at his core w/ him looking and whining for OPI on nearly every completion to his guy. I hope that last year provides a bit of humility for him and he works hard to get with the program.

The more time has passed the better I feel about the Cary Williams signing. I think Sherm is fine, ET will be ok, Cary will benefit from the hawk program and ET's range. I'm worried about Kam being able to stay healthy even if he reports...and depth is an even bigger concern w/ Lane out. He not only compound fractures his arm but tore his acl on one play (I can't imagine that moment).

But, as was referenced in the OP, Pete and John cannot be missing this.... They know better than we do what the real truth is and it's not like them to be unprepared.

From PFT:

"Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times reports that the Seahawks have sent an undisclosed 2016 draft pick to Detroit in exchange for cornerback Mohammed Seisay.

Seisay will now compete with Will Blackmon, Marcus Burley, Tye Smith and, once healthy, Tharold Simon in a group topped by Richard Sherman and Cary Williams. At 6’2″ and 200 pounds, Seisay has the kind of size the Seahawks have liked at corner in recent years."

He was an undrafted Free Agent last year. Probably someone they had their eye on but couldn't sign.
A late draft pick might be worth it.

I'll throw this out as part of the "football news" if anyone reads it, but it's real nice to see a long set of quotes that didn't include the term "my contract" or "I'm great" or "i need the ball more" and truly seems to be taking a leadership role. We haven't heard much like this in the past.
