Oh IF we had lost last year then lost like this, this year, I think mass suicides would have happened!!! Not really but I would have started to think we were the Bills.

Winning the previous one definitely took the edge off of losing this one, but I'm still pissed. I really wanted this last one, and I won't quit beetching for quite some time.

I feel good, I deleted the game from the PVR, I don't think I will ever watch it back knowing the result. I have "Sound FX" from that game, will probably wait a couple months before I watch it.

Winning last year made all the difference in the world for me, if they hadn't and then that happened, I know I would still be an emotional wreck.

Does it sound weird for me to say that I am more upset about Super Bowl XL, something that happened 9 years ago now, than I am about a game that happened 5 days ago? Cause I am, XL will forever be a sore spot with me, I don't think I will ever fully accept that game for what went down. I can accept what happened this year, given we won the year before.

Dittos. I said at the time I could live with losing fair and square, just not the way it went down. The game was an abortion and when the NFL network shows clips they are heavily redacted. 49 on the other hand is an instant classic between 2 great teams.I'm glad we were a part of it.I'm so proud of how they fought. We will compete to be back for the next several years

No I felt the same way right after the game. In Superbowl XL - we outplayed the Stealers and had the game stolen from us. In the most recent superbowl, we just lost. So its natural to feel more upset about the Superbowl that was stolen from us.

This one hurts, but in a much different way.

I still think we showed we're the best team in the league- we were down 2 key defensive starters for most of the game and were *still* a handoff or two from a "repeat". We didn't end up "#1", but I have no shame in my team's players.

As I said to my golfing partners today:

To mimic the Seahawks coaching staff , I'd have had to taken my approach on 15 at Meadow Springs (to 4 inches) and pulled out my driver and given it a whack. I pull out my putter like a sane person and take the tap in and I've got my birdie.

When I don't do that and instead opt for the bizarre, my skill is no less highly regarded.

I think the same is true for this Hawks team, and opponents are now reduced to hoping the caliber of this heartbreak breaks the team apart to some degree.

I guess we'll see.

A week after the fact, and I'm pretty much done with last Sunday.
Absolutely no point in me continuing to lament the loss moving forward.
What's done is done.

All of this is made easier by the fact that we have a very good shot at returning, and winning, next's year's SB in Santa Clara. The Seahawks already showed that they are up to the task, and did not fall victim to the post SB curse of either not reaching or winning a playoff game the following season. We did much more and then some.

If any team is capable of a 3rd straight trip to play for the Lombardi, it's us.

Fill some holes roster wise, stay healthy, and chances are good we'll be right there next year.

Not sure I'll ever put that loss "away" but much like XL it will fade and not sting as much... Have to admit, I still haven't watched a single minute of the NFL network or even ESPN since moments after the game, and only occationally read much about the game at all...

I can forgive the players ( and had immediately after the game) and I will have little issue accepting the outcome, but I'm not sure I'll ever understand that call, or why they decided to abandon what made them exciting, and productive all season ( and the season before, and the season before) in that one moment... It's something no matter what Carroll, Bevell, or Wilson has to say about it, I'll just never be able to reconcile in my own mind.. such is life I guess

( and to be fair, it was three championships in a row that I was secretly pining for, something no NFL team has ever done, and something I doubt any team after would accomplish in my lifetime, so maybe the "short" end of it tarnishes my views)
