The Shack is 6 months old!

Postby yoder » Sat Jun 14, 2014 4:45 pm

Well Shack family, as of today we're officially 6 months old! Sounds weird, eh? For some reason it seems like it has been years. Probably because 95% you have all been around since the P.I. days!

I just wanted to say thanks to all of you for being here. If it weren't for you, this would just be another random website clogging up the internet. You gave it life, and now it is a hidden gem...the greatest online Seahawks community I've ever come across.

Sure, a few small fights, a few bumps and a few spammers...but this place has been awesome. Thank you to the donors, you have no idea how much I appreciate it. Thank you to the contributors, you put a lot of time, thought and knowledge into your posts. And thank you to Makena, for helping me keep everyone inline.

Think of this, when the Shack has it's first birthday, we could be in the playoff's.

Thanks again to all,

Yoder

I should post more often... just been so busy. But this really has become part of my life. The Seattle PI .... to .... Hawkshack. I can't thank you enough Yoder. I hope most will continue to donate. As I am going to re-up my second donation shortly. I want to see this continue for awhile..

Ditto the thanks to Yoder and Mak. I wish we could get a few more posters going, or rather, the ones that do post to post more often. Maybe once the season starts, we'll see a few more folks. We have a nice little group here.

Echo everything said. This place was so special to come to during the Super Bowl run when I thought I would have nowhere to go.

I don't post often, but visit multiple times a day and will be sending another donation in soon.

Thanks Yoder, just a fantastic job done.

Feels like since the beginning of the Holmgren era to me cause it feels like an evolution of the old PI forum. Which is as it should be! Thanks for doing this Yoder, much respect!

The most insightful Hawk Fan Community on the internet is here at the Shack.

Now only if I could get a drink here?

You'll buy only if you beat me to the bar tender!

I'm going to try to make a couple of home games this year, but don't know which one. I've already committed to go to the Hawks-Cards game in AZ on Dec. 21st if anyone else is going.

I swore I was done posting as the PI plunged off the cliff.

I was in adjective rehab for six months writing nada, nothing, no, who cares ...

Then you two do this and string me out again.

Thanks, I guess, ^%$&&^%$#***!!!!!

Au contraire, my fine feathered friend. You have, indeed, been writing quite extensive analysis of our beloved Hawks after the PI "plunged off the cliff". You just haven't let some of the others in on your musings.

My ONLY problem with your postings is the frequency of them....ain't nearly enough. Most of our current posters don't realize that you advocated trading for Marshawn Lynch months before it happened.

Hey, if the whole shack can make it, I'll get a round for the whole shack.

Arizona 12/21 is still on my radar, RD, and I, too, am undecided which home games I'll be going to. Have a friend with season tix who always ends up giving me a couple games, but something tells me the likelihood of him attending personally will be going up this year. :)

Major Props and Thanks to you, Yoder!

The Shack is my home.

Since I joined here, my posting at the two other Seahawks websites has fallen off significantly.

And, depending on who you are, that may or may not be a good thing:)

Thanks again, brother.

GO SHACK!:)

Just want to the THANK YOU for starting this Forum you captured everything that was good with the P-I Forum with none of what was bad. You even improved upon it, so hats off to you because it would have been terrible not to have a "comfortable" forum in which to share the championship run with if you hadn't of stepped up to the plate and made it happen.

I could be up for a shack meetup during the season.

Not really sure about a game because tickets are scarce.

Another option would be a meetup for a road game at a bar to watch the game there. Example - I know a Mexican restaurant near Microsoft campus in Redmond which has an excellent sized, well lit bar with several TV's. It is usually empty on Sundays and can easily be taken over. Plus it has an all day happy hour pricing on Sunday's so the prices on food and alcohol are very reasonable which won't break burrton's bank account when he picks up the tab for everyone....

I like that idea. I have a brother-in-law that lives in Snohomish, so there could be a possibility that we could make a trip over there for such an occasion, and I'd have a designated driver to boot. Keep me posted.

Let's revisit this idea after the season begins. I like the idea of a meet up for a road game - better environment for interacting with people then at a game in stadium seats. I especially appreciate burrton's generosity in offering to pick up the bill for everyone for this type of an event.

Agreed. I'm not positive about my work schedule for the fall months yet. I anticipate having Sundays off but won't know for sure until sometime in August.

But we can't let burrton get away with picking up the bill.

Splitting it up if it's a huge bill is desirable!

I didn't say, or at least didn't intend to say, I'd pick up the bill for a 3-4 hour all-you-can-eat-and-drink afternoon for 50 people, but I'm happy to get a round for a group of us, or possibly even the entire bill for smaller number or a shorter amount of time.

The Burr Blurr said "a round for the whole shack", a most splendid offer. "a" doesn't even specity which round, but the disclaimer suggests it means "one".

And Dog said he would "have to beat him to the bar tender" in such a circumstance, and Dog has always been most generous in the past in such situations.

So, just show up and let them argue. PI Forum pre-game get-togethers always seemed to involve more than one pint per.

But, first glance at your peers can be scary enough that you might even need more than two, ummmm, "he doesn't look like he writes" head adjusters, and your thinking won't be getting any clearer.

Those PI get togethers were fun. I got to meet a couple of long lasting friends, specifically Bird Droppings and Irish Greg. Since my immediate family is all female, I need some male bonding during football season to maintain my sanity.

The other thing meeting in person does is that it tends to take the edge off some of the back biting when you know a poster in person vs. strictly an online relationship.

No I don't doubt your sincerity at all. I thought it would be pretty much obvious to everyone how I "Expanded" your original offer to me to buy a drink to you picking up the whole food and bar tab for an entire Shack get together. - Lol.
