Blazers Sold. Are The Seahawks Next?

Postby River Dog » Thu Aug 14, 2025 6:53 am

There hasn't been much news about the potential sale of the Seahawks, but now with the Trailblazers being sold, things might start heating up:

I'm not anxious to see them sold. I am quite comfortable with how things are being managed, at least to this point. Prior to the coaching change, a lot of people felt that Pete had Jody Allen wrapped around his little finger, but she, or who ever is advising her, decided to cut bait. Selling them to someone else would induce a lot of uncertainty. Will they be a hands-on owner like Dan Snyder or Jerry Jones? Or will they be more like Paul Allen and not interfere with football operations but still wasn't afraid to pull the trigger when necessary.

Changes of this magnitude can be somewhat distressing considering the history of the Behring years here.
I think that experience will always haunt us even if they don't move the franchise because it showed how an ownership change can make a mess of what might be a promising team.

Which is the main reason I'm content for things to remain as they are. Behring is one example. Howard Schultz is another.

As long as they are sold to someone that wants to own them and win that isn't a Bennett or Behring, I'll be ok with it. I guess we'll see if any of our local billionaires step up since being a sports owner isn't for the millionaires any more.

I think Jody should ask Dundon “hey are you also a NFL football fan?”

I'd throw in a nickel or two!

My hope against hope is that, because the sale is ultimately approved by one person who is giving funds to charity instead of trying to make money for an investing group, the top bidder won't be guaranteed the sale. I'm hoping that Jody can use discretion and only sell to a bidder that keeps Paul's legacy of saving Seattle's team intact.
