Unsigned picks as of July 9th

Postby NorthHawk » Wed Jul 09, 2025 11:00 pm

Here is a link to the current unsigned draft picks. The Seahawks haven't yet signed Nick Emmanwori - the 35th pick. but the rest of the 2nd round is unsigned, too.

Boy, a lot of unsigned draft picks for this time of year. The article said that the holdup is the Bengals' contract squabble with their first-round pick, that they're trying to attach a bunch of strings that would void the contract and that once he signs, the others will quickly fall into place.

The Bengals are a strange team. They won't negotiate with Hendrickson and are suddenly putting in a clause with their first round pick who's also a pass rusher, that no other team has with their 1st rounders that they never added before.
So if Hendrickson holds out then they go into the season with an untrained rookie (if he does sign) and probably very little pass rush. Their Defense was their weak spot last year and now they are taking away one of, if not the best pass rusher in the league. They better hope their Offense is on point right from the start of the year because they might not be able to stop anyone.

With Nick Emmanwori, I don't know what the issue is. Is JS balking at guarantees or is the players agent demanding more than that draft position would expect because they traded up to get him?
Has anyone heard what the problem is? Rookies are supposed to report for camp on the 15th (next Tuesday).

Apparently the first 2 2nd round selections got guaranteed contracts and it looks like the rest of the 2nd rounders want that, too.
Emmanwori might be in a better position than the others because he's nearer the top of the 2nd round and the Seahawks traded away good draft capital to move up to get him.

Tuesday is the start of the Rookie TC so I hope they get it done.

Arroyo is our 2nd pick in the 2nd round that isn't yet signed - he was selected at #50 so we are 2 players short.
It all started with Houston then Cleveland giving guaranteed contracts to their 2nd round selections. Emmanwori was selected at #35.

The 2nd round picks are starting to sign.
It looks like most of those that have done so in the top half of the round have a fairly high % of their contracts guaranteed. I hope this sets a framework for both Emmanwori and Arroyo to agree to terms.

From Profootballrumors.com:

While many of the second-round picks who signed their rookie contracts today had to settle for partially guaranteed deals, Nick Emmanwori has reportedly gotten his way. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the rookie safety and the Seahawks have agreed to terms on a fully guaranteed rookie deal. The deal is worth $11.6MM.

Now sign Arroyo and we will be set for TC.

I'm not a bean counter and don't pretend to know the ins and outs of NFL contracts, but "the player got his way" gives me hives. The player didn't- the agent did- and that's rarely good for the team in the long run (the only entity I care about).

I was never all that concerned. Rookie holdouts are pretty much a thing of the past.

At least we aren't the Bengals. What a mess.

Arroyo signed.

From Profootball rumors:

Arroyo signed his four-year, $8.81MM contract on Friday. ESPN’s Adam Schefter notes the pact contains $6.87MM in guarantees, meaning 78% of the deal is locked in. In the past two years, the No. 50 slot (where Arroyo was selected) has seen guarantees of 61.6% and 68.3%, per Jason Fitzgerald of Over the Cap.
