PFF Tight End Rankings Ahead of 2025 Season

Here's another position ranking ahead of the 2025 season, this time tight ends.

1. George Kittle, San Francisco 49ers
2. Brock Bowers, Las Vegas Raiders
3. Trey McBride, Arizona Cardinals
4. Mark Andrews, Baltimore Ravens
5. Sam LaPorta, Detroit Lions
6. T.J. Hockenson, Minnesota Vikings
7. Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs
8. Dallas Goedert, Philadelphia Eagles
9. Isaiah Likely, Baltimore Ravens
10. Dalton Kincaid, Buffalo Bills
11. Evan Engram, Denver Broncos
12. Jonnu Smith, Miami Dolphins
13. Dalton Schultz, Houston Texans
14. Taysom Hill, New Orleans Saints
15. David Njoku, Cleveland Browns
16. Hunter Henry, New England Patriots
17. Jake Ferguson, Dallas Cowboys
18. Tucker Kraft, Green Bay Packers
19. Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons
20. Cade Otton, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
21. Josh Oliver, Minnesota Vikings
22. Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers
23. Colston Loveland, Chicago Bears
24. Tyler Warren, Indianapolis Colts
25. Noah Fant, Seattle Seahawks
26. Tyler Higbee, Los Angeles Rams
27. Mike Gesicki, Cincinnati Bengals
28. Noah Gray, Kansas City Chiefs
29. Cole Kmet, Chicago Bears
30. Zach Ertz, Washington Commanders
31. Juwan Johnson, New Orleans Saints
32. Will Dissly, Los Angeles Chargers

I've always considered George Kittle to be heads and shoulders above all other tight ends, including Travis Kelce, mainly due to his blocking. I was a little surprised to see Noah Fant make the top 32, along with an old friend in Will Dissly, who I always felt was underrated.

Also, WTF is Taysom Hill doing ranked as the #14 tight end? Like I've said in the other related threads, I'm not necessarily endorsing PFF in this endeavor.

Klint Kubiak's Offense is said to emphasize TEs as a big part of overall production. We haven't seen that here for a long time so if true it will be a welcome change and should make next years list quite different. It's what I had in mind in another thread when I said nobody really knows how the different positions will be utilized by new OCs. Will it change here? If the edges of the OL produce adequately then we should see more activity for Fant and maybe Arroyo but we have 7 TEs going into TC so maybe someone else will shine and become a big addition to the Offense.

Speaking of TEs, just saw a pretty note worthy trade to the Steelers from the Dolphins. In case you didn't see it;

Dolphins traded Jonnu Smith and Jalen Ramsey for the Steelers Minkah Fitzpatrick, and a picks were throw into the mix to compensate the balance.

Now I find this interesting as the Steelers, like the Hawk's with DK, were entering Fitzpatrick's last year under contract and his cap hit would have been enormous. Now Fitzpatrick is elite, and he is only 28 and would be a plug and play in any defense.

I believe we may have missed and opportunity here when dealing DK to the Steelers for just a pick. Now offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, loves to use multiple TEs in his offense. So there were always a discussion pre-draft and in the off season with Steeler nation they wanted to added quality depth at TE.

So here is where I think the Hawks missed an opportunity, when dealing DK to the Steelers, why didn't we package Noah Fant as well, and snag Minkah Fitzpatrick who would have been a huge add to our defense? All offseason the indications was that Lockett, Dre Mont Jones, and even Noah Fant's name was thrown in as cap casualty cut. Well we shall see how it plays out.

Wow! I note that Travis Kelci is all the way down at #7. It was obvious to me that his performance had fallen off last year. Don't know if it was because of the distractions connected with his dating Taylor swift, age or the combination of both. But I'm guessing being ranked down at #7 is a blow to his ego. And I'm not sure he's that bad either.

I've always felt that Kelce was a bit overrated. He's a very good receiving tight end as I've had him on my fantasy team for the past 3 years and he's been my top producer, but he's not all that great of a blocker. Plus, he benefits from all the publicity surrounding the Chiefs, and as you noted, his relationship with Taylor Swift. Here's what PFF had to say about him:

While Kelce has been the second-most-valuable tight end over the past two seasons, per PFF WAR, 2024 represented the lowest-graded season of his career (71.7). Age looks to be catching up to the future Hall of Famer, as his 91.4 PFF overall grade from 2022 appears to be a thing of the past.

FYI Kelce turns 36 during the 2025 season.
