Hawks vs. Bears

Postby River Dog » Tue Dec 24, 2024 5:21 pm

On the day after Christmas, a TNF game televised on Amazon Prime.

We really hurt our chances last week by losing to the Vikings and the Rams beating the Jets. It turns out that the Bears game doesn't have a lot to do with our playoff chances, that win or lose, almost everything hinges on the outcome of the Cards and Rams on Saturday. I've seen one site that pegs our chances of making the playoffs at 18%.

The Bears are having another tough season, going 4-11 in what has turned out to be the league's toughest division.

I think we win this one quite handily, 35-17. Time to get the mojo back.

Bears are terrible. I hope they don't do us like the Giants did us.

Shut up at home, not feeling well, no TV, and no results posted anywhere I have looked. What happened? Score? Anybody??

Sorry, I am confused, thinking the game was played yesterday. Old age is setting in.

Hehe! These guys that work for a living won't understand, but when you're retired, you lose track of the days of the week because every day seems like a Saturday. My wife will get mad at me because whenever someone tells me to have a nice weekend, I'll be a smart ass and respond by saying "Weekend? What's a weekend? Oh, oh, oh, I know! That's where working stiffs get a couple of days off, right? I remember now!

I see where they've ruled K9 out for this game, and it makes me wonder if part of the rationale for sitting him is that this game doesn't really count for much as far as the playoff picture is concerned, that everything hinges on the Rams-Cards game this Saturday. Plus, Charbonnet has been playing well in his absence, so we're not losing a whole lot.

The weather forecast for Chicago is about as good as one could expect for the last week of December: At 7pm CST, 43 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation, wind 8mph. I can remember a playoff game in Chicago several decades ago when the fog was so bad that all the TV shots had to be taken at field level.

It looks like Walker is out for the rest of the season:

Marshawn really spoiled us thinking a running back could be good and durable. It's rare in the modern day to find a RB that can play 17 games at a high level.

That's one of the reasons why I don't like spending high draft picks on running backs. They are more susceptible to injury than any other position on the field.

The more I watch Charbonette the more I like him. He's an efficient runner with not a lot of wasted motion that puts his body parts in vulnerable positions like Walker does. Plus, he's just bigger and sturdier.

Agreed. To be honest, the Hawks are usually more frustrating than they are fun to watch. They can breathe life into the worst teams.

And there goes DJ out of control again and setting his team back 15 yards. Honestly, I can do without him.

Yeah. Be nice if DK were starting fights for some good reason and not just because he's being an over-aggressive ass.

Well, I think DJ is frustrated because teams are taking him out of the game and he's not getting many targets. So, he's got a hair trigger more than usual.

I'm in the trade him camp myself. He'd be better off somewhere else rather than languishing away his best years on a non-contending team with a defensive head coach. That's the pragmatic in me.

Our defense is ballin' but our offense is atrocious. No imagination at all.

Defense looked great. Clearly Grubb’s days are numbered. Not sure he’s the real problem though

Well, so much for Metcalf not picking up stupid ass personal foul penalties. But, on the other hand, maybe I should be happy as it might mean that he hasn't lost his passion for the game.

The only Seahawks game that I can recall that was this low scoring was the Clipboard Jesus game against the Browns back in 2011. In that one, we ended up on the short end of the 6-3 score.

What an awful game. Neither team showed up. I could have spent the time playing solitaire. The whole NFL should be shuttering.

There was actually some pretty entertaining defense being played by both sides. A lot of offensive ineptitude on both sides as well, but the game wasn't completely without entertainment value.

And the aforementioned 6-3 Cleveland game was the only other 6-3 game in NFL history. At least we won this one.

I was attending a birthday party and didn't get a chance to see all of the game so I can't really comment on the entertainment value. I suppose if you are a Michael Dickson fan that it was a fantastic game to watch.

I hadn't realized that our two 6-3 games are the only two games to end with that score in the history of the NFL. It seems like there'd be other such games like the two we've had.
