I just got the email to re-up and I already have all my picks in. Thanks again for doing this, Cbob!

This has become a family thing for me as my daughter (Lady Hawk) and son-in-law (Cooper Bowl) participated last year and got one helluva lot of enjoyment of kicking the old man's a$$. I'll send them a reminder.

I truly suck at both pick ‘em & survivor, but it’s something that I really enjoy. I guess I’m a glutton for punishment.

I was able to join the Pick 'Em league, but I keep getting "incorrect password" for survival.

Can you confirm its group ID 6712 and password is Seahawkswin?

Welcome to Yahoo Sports Survival Football.

You have created the Private Group called Hawkshack Survival League and the Pick Set called c_bob in that group. To allow other people to join this group send them the Group ID# (6712) and the Password (Seahawkswin). Remember, it is the Group ID#, not the group name, that other people must use to join your group.

You are now ready to play Survival Football. Your goal is to predict winner(s) each week. Win, advance to the next week. Get it wrong and you could be out.

Thanks for joining and good luck!

ObS had the same problem last year, never did get in ... hope you have better luck!

What a week 2 eh? There always seems to be a heavy upset week but this one was exceptional, underdogs went 8-8!

Vegas won both pools in week 2 with 78 points and going 10-6 straight up!
On the year he now leads with 194 points and is is tied with 12th Lady for the lead strait up at 23-9!

Bloodbath in the Survival League!
ObS is now the only one in the Survival pool without at least 1 strike and Agent 86 & Brian's Bogus Pick Set are both eliminated in week 2!

Good luck in week 3!

In week 12 IrishGreg won with 75 points and tied with half the board; Yours truly, Riv, The Cooper Bowl, 12th Lady, and Vegas straight up at 10-3! BTW, I cant recall ever seeing so many, 5 of us, with exactly the same picks top to bottom, as we had this week! Are we rubbing off on each other?

For the season Riv still has the points lead with 1037 points and 12th Lady is still leading straight up at 128-51! BTW #2; NFL Pickwatch has the 2 best prognosticators in the country tied with 127 correct! Well done M'Lady!

Good luck in week 13 and Happy Thanksgiving y'all!

ObS

Postby c_hawkbob » Thu Nov 28, 2024 11:05 am

Anyone know if ObS is OK? He didn't make any picks las week and none so far this week and he was doing pretty well so I don't think he dropped out as some do when their cause becomes lost ... hope he's just gotten busy.

I used to have an email address for him, but it might have been from an old account of mine. I'll do a little research. You're right, it's not like him to quit on a game like that. He doesn't post as often as he used to, but he's participated in all of our pick'um leagues.

FYI I did have an email address for ObS and sent him a message to him expressing our concern. The message didn't bounce back as undeliverable, so I assume it went to the correct address and that the account is still active. But given how old the account is, who knows how often he checks it, if my message ended up in his junk folder, etc. Unfortunately, we don't have any friends in common that I could reach out to.

I woke up this AM and found an email from ObS, and he's still getting older and slower! He had some computer issues that prevented him from making his picks. I had feared the worst.

Yeah, I feel your pain. Our generation was born with a belly button on our stomachs, not a USB port.

Bad picks won week 13 with a very rare Perfect sheet!!136 points and 16-0 straight up!

(Almost makes you feel sorry for Riv and Agent 86 who each only had 1 wrong for minus 1 and 2 points respectively...)

On the season now Riv still leads with 1172 points and has taken the lead straight up at 141-54, which would tie him for the lead on NFL Pickwatch .com!

Good luck in week 14 y'all!

For week 14 ObS made it back from a couple week computer gremlin hiatus to remind us all how it's done winning the week with 81 points and tying with Yours Truly, Agent 86 and Riv straight up at 11-2!

On the season now Riv still leads with 1243 points and straight up at 152-56, which would have him leading all of the experts on NFL Pickwatch .com by a game!

Good luck in week 15!

Just a note as to how much fun this Pick'em league can be. My daughter is "12th Lady" and my son-in-law is "Cooper Bowl." The contest gives us bragging rights. During Thanksgiving, my daughter was beating me on the W/L side of the game, and don't think that I didn't hear about it. But the cream finally rose to the top and now I'm leading her, a point which I will emphasize when we drive up to Spokane for Christmas next week....assuming I hold my own in Week 16.

Anyhow, it's a lot of fun that I think a lot of people would enjoy. It gives you a vested interest in every game.

Pretty gutsy call that you made on that Philly-Washington game. Were you sticking pins into your Jalen Hurts voodoo doll and cause his injury? :D

It's the same 3 point (well 3.5 in this case) home dog thing that bit me with the Seahawks game. If I finish my picks and it just feels to vanilla I'll go back and look at the 3 point or less home dogs to see if I can't spice my sheet up a bit. The Seahawks and Commanders were both revised picks so I woulda placed the same without extra spice this week.

I'm not nearly as analytical as you are, but it sure worked well for you.

As far as point spreads go, I don't pay a whole lot of attention to them. They are a reflection of betting activity, or the popularity of the team. The Cowboys are invariably given a more favorable point spread than they deserve because they have the largest fan base and draw more casual betting, so the bookies have to adjust the point spread to account for them.

And your HFA comment was interesting. I watched some of the Washington-Philly game, and it appeared to me as if there were a lot of Eagles fans in the crowd, both by visual observations as well as the sound level when Philly was on defense. Heck, it's only a little over a 2-hour drive between the two stadiums. We had the same problem last week against the Packers.

Anyhow, good job last week. I'm going to have to put a hex on you to protect my narrow lead.
