This was a game that we should have had no problem winning as the Giants aren't anywhere near SB contenders and Daniel Jones is at best a pedestrian quarterback. The game ends on a Kam Chancellor style blocked FG attempt.

One of the most frustrating plays for me came at the beginning of the 4th quarter with the Hawks in a possession that if successful, would have tied the game. On 3rd and long at our own 24, Geno makes a nice decision to run and gets close to the line to gain, but instead of diving and assuring us of the first down, he goes into a slide and comes up a yard short, then on 4th down, he takes a sack, and we turn the ball over on downs on our own 27. The Giants kick a FG and it's a two-score game in the 4th quarter.

I also didn't like Grubbs play calling. We didn't even try to run the ball. Our running backs got a grand total of 7 carries. He was calling the game as if we were down by three touchdowns, and it showed up in our time of possession. Not that I'm excusing our defense as they looked horrid, but that kind of offensive game plan just compounded the problems we had stopping the Giants.

Ane what the hell happened to our defense? I could understand the problems we had last week in Detroit as we faced a Pro Bowl quarterback who had a record setting day where he didn't throw a single incompletion, but how in the hell can we let a QB who is lucky to have a starting job take advantage of us like he did? That was more disappointing for me than Geno's brain fart.

The only good news is that both the Niners and the Rams lost, so we're still leading our division. That will last a couple more days when I fully expect to get embarrassed on national TV. I had thought that maybe this team could be SB contenders ahead of schedule, but now I'm retreating to my original expectation of a 9-8, one and done playoff appearance so typical of Pete's teams. Ugh.

Thats what virtually every prediction said as well. The message didn't get to the Hawks.

Except our dline didn't hold down the opposing linemen so Chancellor could make his jump.

The NFL released a statement saying it was legal:

Every team in the league needs to watch the replay so they can practice executing it like this.

All that said, no, this wasn't the reason for losing. Seattle played far too poorly for 4 quarters.

I'd rather crash and burn to get some high picks. This 49ers game will be a litmus test for contention. If we get destroyed, we're not a real contender because the 49ers aren't near as strong as recent years. If you can't contend against them on your homefield in a down year, you're not in contention for much.

I think the word that best describes this games is "disappointment", and I know it's a game we could have won, but as stated in my opening post Daniel Jones is very athletic, and when given a clean pocket he can make those accurate throws. Unlike other QBs like Mahomes, or Josh Allen, who can move around in the pocket and throw accurate while under pressure. Daniel Jones, doesn't fare will while under pressure, and we couldn't get to him consistently.

This just shows how much Boye Mafe means to our starting line up. Since he has been out, our defense has taken a major step back. Hopefully, he is ready for the big game this Thursday.

Well this is the best part of a rookie HC, and a new regime as we don't have to have high expectations. With the Lions loss, I left that game still content and confident we can turn this around when we get some of starters back. I felt like we hung tough with a quality team, and there were a lot of positives to build on from that loss. However, this Giants loss is a just a reminder of who we are this time, and it's going to take someone on defense to step up and hold these young players accountable for the miscues. Also, other than Geno someone needs to step up on offense. Geno can't play "hero ball" too often and at some point he is going to have a few bad plays here or there. Two games in a row DK has had critical fumbles that have killed drives. DK, who is considered one of our top tier players needs to clean it up and play smarter.

All is not lost, and a home win this Thursday against a hated divisional Rival will certainly catapult us right to the top 10 in this league and we can move forward.

Prior to the season, Vegas had the over/under wins for the season for us at 7.5, so I think expectations in general were quite a bit lower than where I have us finishing at.

If we keep playing like on Sunday we could end up 3-14, but I expect some improvement so 7 or 8 wins should be the floor.
