Interesting viewpoint on the DL and Dre'Mont Jones

This DL should look quite a bit different from last year and the article below gives us some insight into how it's going to be designed.
It's not a complete picture, but it gives us a hint about what's to come.

Thanks for the link. If Jones can be an impact player it will make an improved defense even better.

It sounds to me like players aren't going to be playing singular roles and may move around as the down/distance changes.
There will be some growing pains as the players figure it out, but it's kind of refreshing to look forward to something different.

If Mike can get our defense turned around, nothing will make me happier. I know the league has moved more towards offense, but nothing makes me happier than a punch you in the mouth defense that scares opposing QBs and offenses. I like it when they know they are in for a day of work to earn every yard and every score and will go home feeling that work.

Punishing defense is what I love.

It almost seems like MacDonald's system takes a page out of the Offense in that it's trying to make the Offense think about what they are doing thus creating either doubt, confusion, or hesitation - all of which helps a defender get an advantage.
I'm really looking forward to seeing the changes in action and if they work, but I expect another year will be required to change out players that don't fit and to fill any holes before the Defense is running on all cylinders.
